Thats right, every single sports game, wrestling (manly hugging is not a SPORT!) or just #'ed sequels that get upchucked by the devs every year I ♥♥♥♥♥ hate all of you... Why you ask?

Simple, cause its ruining the industry. By ruining the industry i mean its doing NOTHING cept adding small improvements for a price of a full game, that looks almost EXACTLY like it did a year ago. WTF! Instead of getting a sequel or some off-shoot project of Psyhconauts or Star Wars Republic Commando... we get another Madden game... no make that FIVE ♥♥♥♥♥ games about grunting and hugging... WTF.

Hey devs, like EA... why not STOP shoveling money up your asses from stupid retard kids who buy sports games and put that effort into building new IP's or hmmm God knows a non-money only game!?

ARGH. Just annoying how its always just some game that comes out again and again... with nothing but small minute improvements... even then... if ya wanna play sports... go outside and play them! Gaming is made for fragging not passing the puck!

Also, WHATS THE ♥♥♥♥♥ DEAL with those yearly sequels being call NHL 2009 when its only mid 2008 when it comes out... honestly, who the ♥♥♥♥♥ thought that up?

Although these yearly releases have bigger changes than you might think, I do agree with you. Me being a fan of shooters, I hate how big of a market the sports games get.

I agree, although i never even touched a Madden game...

Every year it's the same damn game, just with little new features in it. Stop wasting money EA, just stop. I bet somewhere a little kitty has cried. :(

Sports games were designed to cater to those who lack the necessary skills to play it physically (or have never been to the outside world). If they don't have a console, hey, there's always Fantasy-(insert sports game here)... GO GO, VIRTUAL AGE!!!

Game market is going from bad to worse these days.

Nearly ALL the games at the E3 Leipzig convention are SEQUALS. Where did originality go to? Back in the early days people would make a game about a chef riding giant insects with a gun that shoots dinosaurs.

Arcade and Side-scrolling games (Smups, Beat-'em-ups, etc) have been passed down to become user-created content. Look at the Touhou curtain-shooter series for example (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touhou). Professional Game Developers don't make them nowadays because they're too easy for them. The only companies that make a living out of arcade games are PopCap and Alawar.

Actually, you take a look at XBox arcade, classic styled games are on the rise. And people are getting paid to make them, meaning people are paying to play them.

Hey, I happen to like some of those yearly games myself (NFS:Most Wanted was awesome). Others can thrown out into the radioactive garbage though (football!!!).

Yes, and each episode is taking a lot longer than a year to finish.

There's a big difference between episodic gaming and the yearly sports games.


And really, it's pointless to complain about this. EA (all developers, really) is a business. They exist to make money. These yearly sports games are easy to make, and make a lot of money as sports fans continue to buy them. In other words, they're low risk and high reward.

Besides, how much exactly can you add to a sports game to make it significantly better then the previous game?

Race games can go crazy, and often do, but "regular" sports never change much.
EA could just release big patches for players to update their games, and request money for them too. Though this would isolate the crowd that lack internet connection.
