Yes, Fallout 3 is here.

The epic game, by Bethesda. And i own it, and honestly, it rocks.

It even has Live feature so you can get achievements, though i had already played 8 hours (didn't really get far though) and decided to restart the game under Live. Meh, why not. RA3 probably has the same feature.

But really, its a crazy game, the decaying guns are annoying, but its cool how u see how much the buyer has and the payment (barter) system really works at times.

Did i mention the game is brutal. Like right off the bat its go to a village filled with mines... wtf, good stuff.

This bit is for all the BW fans, lots of guns and lots of gore are present, even a perk that gives the chance that your enemy my just explode in gory limbs and blood from any shot. :D

So, has anyone else bought and is enjoying Fallout 3?

I wished I bought this instead of Little Big Plant, V.A.T.S FTW! :)

I'm going to get this on my PC instead of my PS3.

I plan on getting this game soon. I really want!

However, I decided it wise to get the previous games first, so I've got Fallout 1, 2 & Tactics coming through the mail.

How do the originals compare to this one, by the way? Do they have the same feel to them and such?

question: is Fallout 3 some kind of semi-FPS RPG?

Well in my point of view, originals are better in some way or an other (Fallout2 is the best imo).
The point is people nowadays dont play games as Fallout1/2, they will turn them on and say omg this game sux, without giving it a chance.
To answer the question, yes they have some similar feel to them,
but how Share_the_pain said yes its kind of like oblivion with guns.

Ah, I see. Personally, when I want a new game, more and more I go and buy some older game and have a lot of fun. Its hard to beat the depth and quality of many of the older games out there, like System Shock 2.

But I will definitely get Fallout 3 though. It looks quite fun.

Wait let me clear this out even though fallout 3 is running on the same engine as oblivion this is far from just oblivion with guns, one no magic and two guns wear out and three no orcs.

the gameplay is far far from oblivion buddy :@

No magic: Fallout 3 is set in a (possible) alternate time line to ours; it is meant to be as realistic as possible considering the events that have occurred. Oblivion is set in a completely fictional, fantasy world, where magic has a place; at least parts of Fallout 3 are non-fictional (I.e certain locations).

Guns wear out: So did weapons in Oblivion if I recall, you had to either pay to get them repaired or use hammers. Fallout 3 makes you either pay or use similar weapons, which you would use the parts from (I.e barrel) to repair your own.

No Orcs: Once again, Fallout 3 is set in an alternate time line to ours, not a fantasy world. Orcs have a place in fantasy worlds, mutants have a place in post-nuclear fallout worlds.

Those points aside, if you take a look at the mechanics of Fallout 3 and Oblivion you will find that they have a lot in common (some extra things in Fallout, some taken away) such as the dialog system, stealth system, fast travel, waiting, crimes (although not punishable by jail in fallout), speech influence, melee combat, and even the 'zoom' effect of ranged weapons. You can even get a house (more than one?) in Fallout and buy stuff for the inside of it!

No, Fallout 3 isn't just 'Oblivion with guns', but it sums it up relatively accurately for such a short statement.

Great. Another game where you have to repair every bloody item you have after every bloody encounter.

Me? No. Never played Stalker. I just got annoyed at the need to repair everything all the time in Oblivion. It was just pointless drudgery that did not do anything for gameplay.

in my opinion degradable items make the game play more of a challenge and fun well for me anyways, look at system shock 2 for example. Like the famous words of Riddick *i like a challenge*.

i don't really know how the weapons degrade in Fallout 3.
but the degradable weapons in Far Cry 2 are just great. even if it blows up in your face. !grr :d
but if the degradable items in Fallout 3 work the same way as in Oblivion, it will just suck.

Perhaps the reason I have gripes with it in Oblivion is becasue it is predictable and simple. You battle a little and you need to repair a little. You battle a lot and you need to repair a lot. Simple as that; may as well make it automatic. I just bound a key to repair so I just press that key a bunch every once in a while.

That's astronomical, isn't it? I think I recall that Epic was bragging that GoW sold 3 million in a month or so.

Post subject:  Fallout 3

Yeah. I think in all GoW sold less than 4 million. So 4.7 in 1 week, epic stuff.
