Whoo, it's been another one of those long years in this Sprint Cup's season, and Johnson (car #48 for those who don't know) is one race away from making history: 2nd driver with 3 championships in a row, all the while it'd be just his 3rd championship! I gotta say, the Pheonix race was a nail biter: He started on the pole (history said pole sitters finish horridly), got most laps led (10 extra bonus points, 5 for leading a lap, and 5 for most led), and then finished in the winner's circle! So, going into Homestead-Miami for the final race of the season (the Ford 400), he has a 141 point lead over 2nd (and only other driver able to win the championship at this point) place driver Carl Edwards. What this means is... Jimmie's only gotta get 36th or better to win the championship! YAHOO!!! |
