well it's been getting hot here lately, but today was hell... here's today's weather.... [br] The temp got to 40 (celcius) and with the humidty, the heat index (effective temp) got to 47 !! As you will see, this snapshot was taken at 4:30pm in the afternoon and it is still 36 degrees C.
The worst is, it is not yet our hottest time...that's Jan & Feb ... |

Man, do I pity you. I'll be digging my car out of 14 inches of snow (~35cm) this morning. That's really the weather in December?! |

Yesterday started the first day of winter here... And right now it's about 40F here, too. Note: 40F, not 40C. |

yup, aircons are working overtime.... Heat during the day is livable (if you stay out of it), but it's the nigh and humidity at night that gets to me...like now, it's 9pm and its still damn 30C outside... We normaly have it hot, but this year is just really bad...weather all over is screwed... BTW, if anyone is interested, here is a link to a live weather station in my town... |

we got almost 40 yesterday, but last week, for about 2 days straight, it was puring down rain non stop, pretty strange since we're in a severe drought at the moment, the weather here is very moody sometimes, doesn't know what it wants to do... |

Wow. Don't think I could get used to a Christmas in summer.
Like Tyster said, we've just been getting piled on with snow. Quite a nice blizzard here in Custer last Sunday. Visibility was terrible and my parents had to drive in it to deliver a puppy. Then we had to shovel the road and our driveway (again) so that they could get the van off the road and into our driveway. I'll have to take some pics of all the snow soon. At the moment, according to My Yahoo, it is 12 degrees F (-11 C). Not quite SX's balmy -30, but still quite cold.

Does the humidity get in even with the air-conditioners on full blast or do you have to turn them off to let them rest? Last year before I left for Nanjing I was in New Jersey and the summer there was hot and humid. One night the air conditioning unit in our dorm broke and we were left in the humid heat for about two weeks before our Facilities department decided on fixing it up. I'd take winter over summer anytime. |

I haven't seen more than two inches of snow in my entire life. It's a cool 45 Fahrenheit here, which means I'm FREEZING. |

I can't imagine living somewhere where it goes below zero and that isn't a major event. |

I think it has snowed twice where I live currently. Right now it's about 85F in this room (this PC and 2 360s don't make for AC units, but my bro's PC across the room does work like AC, it cools this room from 97F to that 85F). As for outside... I dunno, I don't go outside often, it's usually just quite crappy to go out from humidities... and there's not much to do outside besides work on our second house... |

No, the aircons help with the humidity. It's actually that humidity thats a killer...heat on its own is bearable to a point, but add that humidity factor and it's deadly, because the effective tempreature sky rockets. Aircons are nice, but very heavy on the electricity bill, also South Africa doesn't have a wonderful electricity supply, so the demand place on the supply grid causes black outs
There are other places that are hotter on average, like Dubai, but they are fully geared to live in those conditions, we're not

woah that's hot... In the Netherlands we got pretty stable weather. Almost never near 40 degrees Celsius and I think almost never lower than about -10. Right now it's grey, cloudy and boring weather. (like mostly in this season) I rather have summer where the temperatures are great to a bit overheat. ^^ |

It is my kind of weather as well. There is just something attractive about streetlights shining onto wet pavement early in the gray/dark morning. |

Yeah, kinda cloudy here as well. The snow is getting kinda melty, its snowing, and chunks of snow from our trees kept hitting me on the head when I was outside.
