So i got stranglehold off of gogamer.com for a total of $5(U.S.)... seemed like a pretty good deal for a game that has a pretty high retail value($30-45). The game came with a two disk install, it took a bit but everything installed correctly. So i go to start the game... it tells me i do not have the disk in my computer. I just installed using the disk... and the disk is in the computer, how the hell is the game going to tell me i don't have the disk in my damn disk drive?? PainKiller reads the disk fine and that game is a few years old, why the hell doesn't this new game work correctly? I really hate it when games make it so the disk has to be in the computer to play, this really makes me want to break something. any advice...? |

Google around for people telling similar tales, perhaps some of them found a solution. If all fails, get a no CD patch. I agree that this kind of stuff is irritating, I crack all my games so the disks last longer, and in some cases improves performance. |

I downloaded a no CD patch for stranglehold, that was a great idea. Of course with one problem squashed... another one arises. If i skip any of the company logos that appear when the game starts... it freezes. If i let the logos go through and the intro video of the game plays it still freezes after. Really? i want to break this game now. |

I think no-disk-cracks are technically legal if you own the game. At least, that's what is said at www.gamecopyworld.com |

I don't know what I could say about DRM and anti crack things because sometimes this will cause more prejudice to honest customers than other things. I love my unreal anthology and even my devastation copies because they doesn't requires any CD to play I bought them and that's all. sometimes game developpers needs to concentrate themselves to make a great game than try to use useless protections, that honest customers pay

I had a similar problem with the intro movies in Painkiller. There is probably a way to disable those movies in Stranglehold, like -nointro flag in the shortcut target line or editing a config file. |

![]() Actually, its typically the publishers that put the security crap on the games. Developers do just that, develop the game, while publishers do all the advertising and getting the game onto the shelves, as well as tacking on extra anti-piracy crap. Publishers are also responsible for games being rushed. |

I did a little reading and apparently i need to update my drivers... The game doesnt freeze... the screen just goes black or stops working(sound keeps playing). blah idk, and yeah i could try disabling the intro movies. |

Definitly sounds like a drivers thing, if it's not rendering the visuals, but plays sounds... best to keep well up to date.. |
