Everyone notice the new poll on the main page?
I'm split in 2. On one hand, Runestorm is known for quality. The weapons are quite detailed and have lots of eye candy. on the other hand, if you have a lot of great ideas that you want to show to the public, then spending 10 hours making the rust look just right might not be the most productive use of time if you want to make an array of crazy weapons that have interesting and unique functionality. I guess a good middle ground would be to pick some items to create that implement a wide variety of the ideas you want to show people and do them pretty well. Then, go back and add some more stuff later and polish the existing stuff. That's what I think; what about you?

making crazy weapons is one of the most time consuming things ;) Our new batch of weapons, is far better in quality than old BW weapons. you'll see soon ;)

Not soon enough. :-/

I say establish a high level of quality. Get this done, and you will pull people in with its amazing looks and fun factors. More can be added later, either by the RS guys or fans, but the core should be done first with quality as a priority.

It makes for quicker releases and I think over all a better experience.

The core also needs to allow a lot of flexibility in future content.

It'd be nice to have only a small quantity of weapons released (maybe four or six), but to have them at an insanely high quality would bring in plenty of people to check them out. Then start creating new ones from there.
I'd have more fun with a small amount of weapons that were great quality than a large amount of weapons that are too regular. :)

I'd rather some amazing guns then a million shitty repeats. Like (no offense) but almost all the newer BP from BW is like crap compared (fight wise imho) to the original stuff.

I think you guys have a good point. An array of 50 mediocre weapons will bore people in a little while, but a few really good weapons will never get old... at least not as fast.

Huh? Which ones were crappy repeats?

All of the bonus pack weapons have been unique and almost all of them excel in combat. The SRS900 is actually an overpowered weapon balance wise and the only weak one in my opinion is the RS8.

Well.. it is a proven fact that more boring weapons is like 20 times boring: vs : 4 times Best and most fun weapons on earth..

In the ideal world, you would have alot of quality things, like BW, but BW is going to look like crap soon... Just aswell we are the ones making it look like crap, and not some other guys, hopefully that day will never come..

However the question of Quality vs Quantity, is not without merit...

I second kelly's post. None of the Bw weapons feel like crappy repeats.

And yeah, the SRS900 is ridiculous. Best sniper rifle in the game while also being one of the better assault rifles.

All the BW weapons feel unique to me as well, they may be similar in mechanics (shotguns, machineguns, etc.), but the look and advantages in combat vary greatly.

well, as i mentioned, we'll do the best we can with our time, try get some people helping us, get solid, quality gamplay and the core game done, then add additions in BP's. With that said, i on't want to rely on BP's to add all the content, so we just need to add the things that will make the Crucible, the Crucible :)

Ya well i found i had a problem with every BP weapon more or less, specially the last ones. they all were just either overpowered, crazy concepts or ridiculously stupid to even look at.

For me some concepts added some fun, just my though about that, for me BW is cool bunch of weapons and even a cool concepts that allow both styles and even a lot of weapons possibilities funny and realistic ones.
That's just my opinion after all ^^

Here we go again. . .

I liked the latest designs of BW... Nothing seemed to me like overpowered, specially cuz the most powerful weapons had really high reload times, compensating for the damage given.

The Glock style pistol with laser cannon is one of my favourites, I really like the ideas you guys had when creating those weapons.

Still, my rifle favourite is DEFINITELY the SRS 20 7.62mm bullet ass kicking beast.

The AM67 is very powerful and has quick reload times, it is usually the weapon that will almost definitely kill me if the bot manages to blind me with the secondary fire.

I still say I'd rather see just a port of the gore system and weapons from BW into UT3 and i would be about as happy as frog.

A pure port of the weapons would look butt ugly, the developers would need to do some work to make the weapons look right in UE3.

Author:  Mr.UglyPants [ Sat Mar 21, 2009 10:57 am ]
Post subject:  quality vs. quantity

Pfff... I have seen them, they are not ugly.. And yes, i realize they weren't a pure port, but damn close to one.

Post subject:  quality vs. quantity

pardon the noob question... but what's a port?

Author:  Bjossi [ Sat Mar 21, 2009 2:08 pm ]
Post subject:  quality vs. quantity

When games or mods are ported, it means they were ported from one game, engine or platform to another. Fx. BW ported to UT3, UT3 ported to Xbox 360, etc.
