I got a new camp, it came with vista so i'm using it.

Its very annoying! I was trying to get onto a chatroom but i didn't have the activeX installed. So it asks me TWICE if i want to install it, making doublely sure that i want to install it, then decides that it doesn't want to install it because it doesn't know the publisher... Why the hell did it ask me twice, then just decide not to do it?

Disable the UAC and Vista will become a lot more flexible. UAC is a drastic measure to make Windows idiotproof, it is pointless and restrictive to have it enabled if you have an IQ over 50.

Vista is so buggy...maybe you should have waited for the Windows 7 public release?

From a year long Vista user: trust me, Vista seems bad to begin with, but eventually you get used to it. But seriously, get rid of UAC.

I would also recommend that you disable superfech if you are running on a laptop /w battery power. I disable superfetch and indexing on my desktop because I am the kind of person who wants my computer to just boot up and shut up until I tell it to do something.

Speaking of which, disabling UAC is only a partial victory over an annoyance that pretends to be a security feature because every time you boot up, there is a balloon above the task that tells you that UAC is disabled and will not go away until you click the "X" button on the balloon. I know, you're thinking "well, if I turn it off, I would know it's off, stop no need to remind me that I did what I did." If you miss the "X", then you have to close the user account control window that automatically pops up. I have not yet found a way to disable this annoying (and not even secure) balloon.

Or format it and install XP

P.S That works but is hard to do...

use winbugs xP

even 1 gb RAM laptops freeze 24/7 because of bugsta, Nazisoft says you'd need around 4 gbs minimum to run the OS properly.

I really have no clue what you're trying to say, Gorgutz. However, I have never heard of an OS that cannot run smoothly on 2GB of RAM or at least well enough on 1GB. If you're having lag issues in Vista, I would recommend you disable superfetch and indexing. Also, make sure you don't have any excessive apps running, such as Yahoo Widgets or Norton security (I think AVG and Zone Alarm would be a good and free lightweight alternative).

Elaborate on the intentional typo.
And yes, 2 GB works just fine for powering Windows Vista (in its default state), with some detective work and tweaking, one can get the resource usage down quite a bit.

I'm interested in what specific tweaks you have in mind, Bjossi. So far, I can think of disabling superfetch, indexing, and aero glass. Anything else you were thinking of?
