The BW Forums section of RS has been shut down in favor of the BWCommunity site. So now, if you wanna talk about BW and the BW mods, you gotta head over to www.bwcommunity.com instead of the RS forums.

Seems a bit silly to me. Now when I want to talk about weapon ideas I go to RS but when I need help I need to sign up to another forum...
Awwell, I have not "seen the whole picture" so I may be missing something... I know more people use BWcommunity but it is still a bit silly to me...

P.S personally i am too lazy to sign up to another forum to ask any question so if BW stops working i'm just not gonna play it anymore... I will still post ideas and such...

RuneStorm has discontinued work on Ballistic Weapons. The Ballistic Weapons Community has picked up work on Ballistic Weapons. Seems silly to keep posting BW ideas on a site that does not work on BW anymore if you ask me.

Epic Games discontinued UT2004. Did Epic Games ditch their UT2004 forums and split up the Epic Games fan base, making UT2004 fans outcasts as a result? No.

There was no need to create a new board for BW fans. Cyberax could easily have created a forum called 'Ballistic Weapons' and in there put the 3 BW forums we know now, and in BW Mods create a similar structure of what we see when logging into bwcommunity.com.

I sure hope we aren't going to do this every time RS discontinue a project, I'd hate to have to keep track of 3+ forum accounts for discussing projects of a single developer.

Seems ok to me, for now.. sure it's maybe a bit messy, but for now the BWCommunity is more like a dedication to the first of RS's accomplishments..

And the original site is used for current and future projects..

Perhaps in the future a better way to go would be to dedicate certain parts of the forums to each of the official RS projects.. Such as:

A Ballistic Weapons forum section:
A The Crucible forum section:
And what ever else may follow:

That seems like a nice tidy way to do things..

Yeah, that is pretty much what I had in mind. The only thing missing over BWC would be some sub-forums within BW Mods.

How about this:

Make the buttons for BW Mods section force a link-over to BWC. However, if BWC detects that there's an account at RS, it would auto create that user on BWC. But with the way some spammers have been attacking BWC... that last bit might not be the best of ideas...

That would be a very convenient way of doing things, but I don't know if it is possible, and even if it was it would take a pretty complex script, especially since BWC and the current RS forums are using different forum systems.

But one thing we can do with ease; make BW Mods send the person to BWC. But that makes one wonder; why are we moving the core of the BW discussions (tech support and general BW chat) to a modding community? I think it will be necessary to cook up some kind of profile/membership migration between the two websites if this plan goes all the way.

What are we working on!?? Have you looked at the frontpage in a while?

It sucks that your PC is not capable of running UT3, but if we want to get somewhere in the industry, we need to work on current technology. And while it is a f**k load harder, it is necessary ;)

We are no longer working on BW or JW. I thought we announced these facts a while back. Does anyone look at the frontpage ever? :P

Right now you have to scroll down and it's not entirely noticeable. I often miss news updates.

well, since my internet isn't "Instafast", when I click "forum" i scroll down fast, so that I can see the news.
if there's something, I stop loading the page and see the news. :)
Anyways, RS normally put the news on the announcements forum, so I never miss the updates!

I really don't know what to say to that... except that I have never heard someone say anything good about UT3 except that it is "pretty". Don't get me wrong I understand that RS must keep uptodate and I'm sure that UT3 is just as good as the other UT games. And yes, I know thats it is harder to mod UT3 than it is UT2004 but as you say, it is necessary.

P.S not only cn my comp not play UT3 but as it has no bot system and my internet is lagtastic it would be no fun to play even if it could run it

The BW support forum has been re-opened to allow people to post SUPPORT releated issues ONLY.

For the benefit of everyone, Ballistic Weapons is not current, and is not being worked on by the devs. This has been stated here several times over quite a long period now. If you have suggestions/requests/ideas for BW, then please use the BW Community website for those. Support can also be obtained there.

BW Community was created because of requests from people who wanted to carry on with development and modding of BW when the devs first announced the move to newer projects. This gives people a home for their modded versions of BW.

BW was built on UT2k4, which has been replaced by UT3, thus the devs are working on newer and better stuff. I can assure you, you will forget about BW once you get your hands on the new stuff (unless of course you still prefer UT2k4 to UT3). Take a look at the screenshots on the wiki to get a small taste of what's comming. The devs are working very hard on it, and we are holding our breaths for a release :)

I will never forget UT2 and BW, personally. As good as some successors are, they don't kill nostalgic value of their older brother.
