I just got into it a month or so back and I say I gotta love it. Got a lot of stories to tell about it, a lot of memories in just 4 sessions of paintball. We have our own field set up, and we're looking at two more locations, one of them being several acres of forests. We got a pretty good idea on how we'll be setting the field up, but we still aren't sure of the scenario and rules, etc. So, if anyone has some good ideas for a scenario that takes place in many, many acres of forests, let me know!
Also, if anyone wants to just talk about paintball, this is a good place to do it.
I'll try and get some pics of the field and stuff up sometime. We pretty much play every weekend. Its a bit expensive, but man its worth it. And I think every game developer can learn something playing paintball.

i did it once in some forest area. there's this one guy who was hiding in a tree taking cheap shots at other players. i was behind him and he never noticed me until i shot him in the back of the head and he fell off the branch. he was okay till' the others took revenge shots at him on the ground. oh what fun.

I have been thinking of getting myself a paintball gun for quite a while...but not for the normal usage. I want one, which I can use to take shots at the freaking damn bastard intruders/theives over here in South Africa. But I want glow in the dark paint mixed with a dye that cannot be easily removed, mainly so I can see the bugger running down the road, and when the cops do catch up, he must have the evidence plasted all over him which he can't wash off. That's the only solution I can think of that won't get me in to trouble with the law. ok, rant over... The sport has always appealed to me...never really got around to playing it... |

That sounds like a good idea, though it might be tricky to find paintballs like you want. I'm sure they make them, but it might be tricky to find and could be quite expensive. It is quite fun though, definitely a good sport. |

played it once, my friends have paintball 'parties' a lot, but sadly even with membership-free admision etc I cannot get along with 25 shots per round so buying more ammo is too much. I may go again someday. |

Ah, yeah, 25 shots per round is not something you could easily do. Sometimes I have rounds using less than that, but its not uncommon for me to use more... And I know what you're saying about the price of ammo. Its expensive, and the cheap ones often really do make a significant negative impact on your performance. Looks around for sales some time. I found some really good paint balls for $30, 2000 round box. It helps if you and a friend pay for a box together. 1000 rounds a piece will probably be plenty for a day of paintball, and usually you can find a 2000 round box for $20-$30, so $10-$15 a person really isn't too bad, and it will probably last you a day or more. But yeah, its expensive... |

i kinda wish i had my own paintball equipment. i live by the west coast so there's not much forest unless you do some travailing. and that was my first, and only paintball experience. the score depends on how many times you got shot. so you lose a point if you get shot. and the tree guy got penalized at the end of the match. (He had that coming )

I would like a paintball gun to nail some peacocks that come pecking at my window. Don't want to kill them, though, that's against city law here. And airsoft guns have been very inaccurate for me (I can clearly see the bullet drifting 6-12 in. off target for some reason). |

I've still got my Tippman 98 custom with a flatline and an M4 stock. Haven't fired it in a couple years though. I do a lot of airsoft these days, but not much paintball. |

Oh, nice. My bro used a Tippman 98 Custom w/ flatline and M4 Stock too.
Its pretty nice from from what he says, but unfortunately neither of us own it.
All I got is a refurbed Viewloader Triton 2. I haven't had any balls chopped yet, and it seems pretty reliable, plus it was only $30, so I can't complain much about it. Plus the carbon fiber barrel I got for it isn't too shabby. Yeah, airsoft isn't nearly as expensive as paintball, we were thinking about getting into it, but our only concern is that they never seem to have nearly as much power, so we're not sure if it'd be as easy to know if you're hit, plus you always got people who cheat, but since its a lot harder to hide a paintball hit, cheating isn't quite as common there. I do like that fact that the weapons look more realistic though, and the price seems to be typically much less than paintball. Maybe you can enlighten me a bit on airsoft, Carsomyr? |

interesting you should say about the cheating but on the last match of the game I played I cheated bigtime. I wanted to make the most of it... There was a sniper somewhere below me (weird sniper behaviour ) and he got me repeatedly until I emptied 6 rounds into his head. HE didn't cheat lol. I camped that whole game...

Ah, I see. We are gonna play in the woods Sunday, gonna play Capture the Tire. We're using tires rather than flags or similar things because A.) they are not nearly as easy to carry with one person B.) they work as an equalizer, because no one can really run while carrying a tire C.) team work can really make it an easier task D.) with a bit of ingenuity, can be quite easy to get from point A to B, and lastly, D.) they have no real sharp edges and won't hurt anyone too badly if they are dropped on someone's foot. It should be pretty fun. |

Is paintball stuff available to you guys? If so I'd recommend buying either a pump action paintball gun or a slingshot, some paintballs (slings shots are nice because it doesn't really matter what size or quality paintballs you have), and give it a shot. It probably won't be nearly as expensive as regular paintball in that A.) the gun (or slingshot) won't cost nearly as much and B.) you won't be using up nearly as many paintballs, so there would be less paintballs to buy overall. And be sure to wear face protection of some sort. I'd recommend giving it a try, it'll be loads of fun.

The trick with airsoft is to use a gun powerful enough that they always scream when you shoot them. Helps with the cheating.
