I recently brought SimCity 2000 for 99p! Since then I am currently on the lookout for any old games, but none leap to mind; so here is a question: what old games does everybody like? My top 5 are 1. Nox (<-awesomes!) 2. SimCity 2000 (The monster!) 3. Doom (<- can get on Nintendo ds! unfortunately you need a full copy of doom for it to work properly )
4. Heroes of Might and Magic III (<- £4.77 for the compete version (I just brought it )
5. HalfLife: Opposing Force (newest of the lot I think... still...) Raziel P.S you don't have to come up with 5 like me, I just have still got the rose tinted glasses on P.P.S Sorry, I appear to be a bit "link happy" today

I was practically raised around playing N64 games. That and the 64 had some of the best games anyways. I never got into PC games until UT2004 anyways. |

Speaking of old games, I've heard of emulator for the nintendo, super nintendo, n64, etc. I think you can just point them to some file that represents an image of the game cartidge? Dunno about the legalities, though, for such old games and systems. |

There are emulators around; they are "for backup purposes only". But no, you have to get the file to match the game type eg GameboyAdvanced = *.gba GameboyColour = *.gbc I back up my gameboy games; they only have a limited lifespan (they each have a watch-battery in them, once that goes you have to take the cartridge apart to fix it, hence the backing up of my games) Raziel P.S as for the legality of it, they are ONLY FOR BACKUP PURPOSES! P.P.S DS Doom!
The lower screen can be a console or a map! N.B Just so you know "DS Doom" is counted as a homebrew game (opposed to a ROM) so is not illegal (Yay!) |

![]() I know this was directed to Xav, but I might as well fill in my own reason. I never played it. Nor will I. I'm still a racing games player first and foremost. Although I can't find any decent racing games right now.... although a friend of mine recommended TXR3. Played Burnout Paradise and DiRT demos and wasn't exactly too pleased. DiRT looked to be simply too specialized, so I think I'd have rather stuck to the TRD series.... if they actually had continued it instead of stupid GRiD and DiRT... Burnout Paradise didn't handle the same way as previous Burnout games whatsoever so much so that I just disliked the gameplay. The crashes looked awesome, but I still want more gameplay than flashy wrecks. That and I could never see a damn thing that was going on due to the horridly placed camera angles. I might try out GRiD just to see if it would be worth even two cents... then possibly NASCAR 09... but I have 08 right now and it's doing just fine as is. Don't see ANYTHING after that... |

Since this is the only part actually relevant to my post, I will limit the quote to that. So why not? Why aren't you going to give Unreal a shot like you did for UT2? |

Actually my bro is the only reason I even installed UT2 on my compy. He got it for free and ended up playing it and liked it actually. Then I played it and found it fun and installed to my compy. So basically because it was a free thing that my bro got (free as in free from some random thing, not illegally free). |

Interesting, lemme see. Half Life 1 was the first fps I ever played. Unreal, Unreal: Return to Napali Serious Sam 1 Serious Sam 2: The Second Encounter (far far too addicting and far too much fun)
System Shock 2 Half Life Opposing Force. I've always wanted to play Half Life Blue Shift but never had the chance to. Has anyone here played it? Any good from a scale of 1 to 10? I'm asking since I havent played it and that I dont expect it'll be sold in Gamestops, Best Buys, etc here in the USA..

Blueshift is good but very short. Also, Serious Sam 2 and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter are two completely different games.

Also, Serious Sam 2 and Serious Sam: The Second Encounter are two completely different games. ![]() Whoops, sorry. I've always seen Serious Sam: The Second Encounter as the sequel to the first one, with Serious Sam 2 (the even crazier game with big spiders, flying thingies, etc) as the third game from Croteam. Does anyone know what those guys are up to? Supposedly Serious Sam 3 (fourth game) is in the works but I saw a couple of screenies floating around supposedly from Croteam that show that they are working on something resembling a Battlefield 2/Call of Duty 4 type of game. It's crazy to work on two at the same time... |

In no particular order: Half-Life 1 (All three were great) Unreal 1 & expansion. GTA 2 Dungeon Siege & Expansion Doom 1, & 2. Starcraft AOE 1,2, both good.. Black & White(Could have done with armies though.. But those poor burning children, how cute.. also it's not that old..) Buldars Gate 1 or 2 (although i found the game's insane difficulty & extremely hard few enemies very offputting..) Blood. Wolf 3D. Diablo II Quake 1, 2 & 3. There are many more, and iv'e probably forgotten some favourites, but a long list that would be.. |
