Are there any mods out that allow you to, as tiny little humans on a team, fight a rampaging player whom has control of a gigantic Kaiju, Godzilla-style and vice-versa? Thought about it and seems like an interestin' concept, but one that's a bit otherworldly compared to all these zombie mods, weapons packs & fingz. Then again, there IS that mod of UT in development that's supposed to be a dark extension of, of all things, the SONIC universe. So I suppose a mod with players in the perspective of military anti-Kaiju fighters and another as a giant radioactive fiend isn't too far-fetched. End of wall of text.... So, anyone heard of anythin' along those lines? |

Hmm... Nope, can't say I did, but it does sound fun! I'd say make a variant of Mutant and make it so they are much harder to kill and stuff. Sounds fun. I might whip out a simple prototype for you when all my college stuff is done. All I'd do would be make the mutant huge, and give him a ton of life and such. Eh, I still need to do my homework, but I got something basic done. Its nothing perfect, and there seems to be some odd delay for when the player initially becomes the giant, but eh, its a start. Will upload once I test it again in a few minutes. Ok, probably last test before upload. Chantges from Mutant game type: Mutant is huge. Mutant is slow. Mutant regenerates 5 points of health every 3 seconds up to 500, roughly. Mutant is not invisible (maybe, testing that now). EDIT: Works. Mutant can not double jump. Mutant jumps High. Mutant does not get any more weapons. Mutant gets a lot of satisfaction killing little guys with a flamethrower while he pretends he's breathing fire. |

Alright, here we go. It seems a bit buggy when the giant dies, but I don't have time to fix it right now. You might want to try asking some other coders like on Epic Forums and give them the source code included and see if they wouldn't mid fixing it up and stuff. You know it might just be a better idea to only allow this gametype to play on ONS type maps for the sheer size of the giant. That also could allow for vehicles then to also join the fight! |

That would kick ass. I'd love to fly around in a raptor and just annoy the living hell out of those virtual monstrosities
Anyone ever summoned vehicles into an invasion game with the mega invasion mutator turned on? It's a little crazy. |

Yeah, I was thinking on just allowing it to use any map, actually. Gives you a lot more choice there. Made some progress too, and I am in the process of implementing a special weapon for the giant right now. Also, if you jump on someone as a giant, they die.

I think it would be fun if the giant had no ranged attacks but instead extreme amounts of health and brutal melee attacks, like stomping that even vehicles are unlikely to survive. |

Well, melee attacks such as a sweeping slam and hopefully, the ability to grab players is being worked on. Stomping on (people at least) is currently available. Didn't get a chance to test it out on vehicles yet. And yeah, its sorta like Titan/Behemoth, only everyone is trying to kill the giant. |

For it to be a worthwhile fight, the giant needs to have a lot of hitpoints, because there will be many players/bots blasting at him with everything from pistols to leviathans. |

If you do put it on a ONS map don't forget to not allow the monster player to enter vehicles... although that could be funny... Raziel P.S maybe give the giant regeneration? (referring to Bjossi's reply) |

Wow, I just inspired an epic gametype with a shoddy concept. Very nice, Xavier. UT2K4 is only the first step, UT3's newer version of the engine likely has even more versatility to make somethin' similar. Mod the Titan-changing code, even giving him the ability to go into a Meltdown form, like the vanilla Behemoth, but fer a bit longer and with a big-ass nuclear explosion, and we have a true GODZILLA! gametype. Just swap the model and give him the trademark nuclear breath to replace rockets, bam, Kaiju deathfest. Plus possibilities of adding other Kaiju.... Bah, I need to stop with the nerdgasms & shaddup already. Heh. |

Xav's mod is still very rough around the edges though; the giant is just a resized player model (and not really a giant either when it comes to size imo), all the other problems I noticed are pretty much a result of the resizing, such as the giant ending up sunk into the floor, very fast & ugly-looking movement animations, etc. This will need a lot of work to be truly epic, and probably will need UT3's extra capabilities as well as you said. But nevertheless Xav is doing a badass job so far and it can only get better, right?

I have no plans whatsoever to make this gametype for UT3. As for the giant's size, well I wanted to make sure they weren't so big that they wouldn't be able to navigate the map at all. I will attempt to make this an ONS map only gametype, my only concern is that objectives will remain and bots will try and do ONS gameplay, not GiantSlayer. Perhaps once I get ONS maps in place I can allow for bigger players. But not until then. Also, unless I get someone to make a model for the giant, I'm just going to be resizing the player's model, since I don't want to mess round with getting permissions and having all these extra packages included in this mod. |
