You guys have won in several categories! Excellent work! :)

* The Best First-Person Shooter (FPS) Game Mod:
* Fifth place ($1,000): Crucible Weapons Pack by Nolan Richert and Arn Richert of RuneStorm

* Best New Character / Customization Pack winners:
* First place ($2,500): Savior Character Pack by Nolan Richert and Arn Richert of RuneStorm

* Best New Weapon Set:
* Second place ($2,000): Crucible Weapons Pack by Nolan Richert and Arn Richert of RuneStorm
* Third place ($1,500): Ballistic Weapons by RuneStorm

Crucible weapons won a spot in best FPS game mod even though it's mainly a weapon pack, which is pretty cool.

Anyway, congrats on the winning!

Well, I just got off the phone with them and they are over the moon with their wins.

Well done guys...hard work does pay off... :)

Now we all have to wait the next few weeks for the next round of releases, which will be the phase 4 entries...not sure if I can wait... :) I really want to see what they have been up to.

Well, I can't really say I'm surprised. :D

Congratulations guys! You are earning some serious money here! That commercially distributed game ain't too far away now, eh? ;)

You're sure to have attracted some publishers by now, you've won several places in each phase!

I think you guys got a future already laid out for you, regardless of if you win the big prize or not. ;)

All I ask of you, RS, when you finally become big game developers, is that you make the MOST VIOLENT GAME EVER, with lots of weapons, enough to make Jack Thompson regret ever getting disbarred.

All my hopes and dreams now rest on you guys.

Congrats guys, it is a great feeling when hard work pays off.
Now buy yourselves a system with Intel i7 975 EE, 12 GBs of DDR3-2000 RAM, 4 x GTX 295 in quad SLi and a X-Fi Titanium. Make me proud.

(kidding aside, this may actually be possible if you still got a fair bit of leftover cash from the previous MSUC wins)

Thanks for you support, we sure are proud if this work.. 8)

And there is only more to come, but busy times i tell you.. :d

We ain't gonna botch this chance at success..
Now we need to work on our biggest stuff yet, kinda. When we are done with the MSUC. We will approach some publishers, and they wont be no, bra sluuz publishers & co... :p

As for rigs, it doesn't make modding much easier. And we can't get much better than we have, and hopefully things wont change in game technology too quickly. !mistrust

Keep an eye out, we will be announcing the next stuff soon.. !amazed

@Blade: I'm not on the Thief forums btw.... Must be someone else..

@Bjossi: I don't think we'll blow all our cash on a PC of that power that we don't need. MAybe a few more GB's of RAM will go down well though :)

We'll see where the competition takes us, hopefully far :)

Thanks again everyone for supporting us :D

The SLi and sound card are overkill, but it would greatly speed up rendering and such if you got yourselves a lightning fast CPU like the i7 which has four of the fastest CPU cores available today. Plus it is the only processor that can work with DDR3 RAM these days as far as I know, and DDR3 is a vast benefit in that a single DIMM module can contain much higher amounts of RAM as well as it uses less power than DDR2.

I got an i7 920 with 6 GBs of RAM myself, and I don't regret it one bit despite it being an expensive upgrade. It is a joy to work with that power, audio encoding, gaming, science computing, you name it; a single core in that thing outputs more work than both cores of my old AMD64 combined.

Bjossi, just out of curiosity, how much has your current rig cost you so far?

Author:  Bjossi [ Mon Aug 10, 2009 10:14 am ]
Post subject:  Congratulations, Runestorm!

Hard to say given how much currencies jump up and down these days, but I paid around 104,000 kr. for the new CPU, mobo and RAM. The base system was bought on NewEgg 3 years ago and at the time cost around $1,000 or so (but a little later bought 2 GBs of RAM and X-Fi Fatal1ty which cost extra $500).

Now I just need to upgrade the GPU and OS and my system will be fully upgraded again. I plan to wait for ATi's HD 5000 series and then buy one of those and a copy of Win7 64-bit.

You'r crazy, if things arn't slow, why bother.. Thats my moto..

There is no point in buying the latest rig that will be outdated and out supported in a year or two..

If you'r card can run what it needs to, and well enough, then you need not upgrade..

We don't upgrade our pc's for fun, or preference. But So we can do our work..

Things were slow for me. When the mobo gets fried the system tends to be unstable, no?

Good for you, but that does not give you the right to disrespect the hobby of maintaining a state-of-the-art PC.

Hmm.. that was unnecessary..

I expect your PC would have been gettign a bit slower these days. Until our earnings last year, we were running some fairly slow rigs :P The 9800's and quad core should last a few years yet though :)

The only noticable slowdown comes from a lack of 64bit OS which limts the RAM amount... That will have to change soon :)

As a matter of interest, what the slowest game you have? I'm still trying to find a copy of Clear Sky.. Just can't find it !mistrust

Slowest one I got is probably Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Then there are Crysis and STALKER: Clear Sky.

It's a great game, albeit flawed at times. And since it is a prequel, you won't be hurting the experience if you haven't played Shadow of Chernobyl yet.
