Post subject:  dieselpunk-esque stuff

i was just reading about cyberpunk-ish stuff, and i came across something called dieselpunk which is supposed to be like steampunk, but less steam and more diesel (literally, so like cars/trucks instead of trains etc). but i cant find any pictures of good dieselpunk rooms/cities. i have had this image in my head for some time about a city that is kinda dieselpunk, but i think its a bit more "diesel" than dieselpunk...i dunno ill describe it and if someone knows what kind of genre its called let me know. so here is how it is: in a city, everything will be made of metal. it will be dark, there is no sun. there are lots of pipes, some are leaky, there are a lot of greasy spots, black grease like used up motor oil, but not too many so it would be called dirty (but everything is kinda greasy). people only wear black work boots and darker clothing or metal-worker jumpsuits, and sometimes fullface helmets. you cant really see much flesh. also its cold and there are sounds of machinery everywhere, like working in a factory in the early 1900s.

scenery kinda like this (click for full size):

inside buildings will be very similar. no wood, no plants, nothing organic. also the lighting will be minimal, and only be fluorescent. lots of dark corners etc. again, lots of pipes. houses are small 2-3 room buildings made of metal and metal-coated concrete, with a lot of pipes and other pieces of metal sticking out of any exposed concrete. all the metal is very dark blue/gray btw, but a little shiny, imagine terminators working in a coal mine, the color of their metal skeleton would be the dominant color in the buildings/streets/etc. also, there is no sun, but there is somtimes a moon, but its never full, its always less than half, but its usually covered by thick gray clouds, and very minimal street lighting.

yaaa, anyone know what this is called? or if there are any maps like this?

Hmm... I would've imagined Diesel-punk being something along the lines of Mad Max or Waterworld, but I'm probably wrong. :p

Your description reminds me a lot of Anarchy Club's song Get Clean, dunno why.

Would be a very interesting environment to explore.

Heck, it reminds me a lot like the movie City of Ember. Lot of pipes, no natural light to speak of, lots of grease and people all wearing utilitarian clothing.

funny, i was thinking about dieselpunk a lot lately. i usually think of Steampunk but with Petroleum instead of coal,30-60's Architecture, Pipes, Air Pollution, respirators and Vintage Robots.
i think Sky captain and the world of tomorrow is a good example.
also, Probably related:
