I found the problem to why my game was freezing at times. UT may have been running at 100% CPU, which is only half the problem. The other half? wmpivrse.exe was sometimes spiking, which means it was taking CPU when the CPU had no more power to give! I found online that having the Task manager makes that program stop, so I'd never have found it otherwise (found online that the thing stops when TM is open, but spikes at times otherwise!). So now... I know that it's wmpivrse.exe that kills UT. If I even forget to shut down that program.... well that's what this topic if for! Note to self: Shut down wmiprvse.exe! |

It is wmiprvse.exe . Now I have something similar,however it only happens when the ballistic pawn is in play.I'll test a game with task manager on. |

Run msconfig and take wmiprvse.exe out of your start up program list. |

So far it seems to work ok,but I might just be having a lucky spell. It is more likely than not that wmiprvse.exe is not causing my problems,this is because I always bring up the task manager every start up to choose what I want to have running for the day,and end process the rest. |
