Do you believe that creatures roam the earth and seas that we have yet to find or prove?

Large Squids have been seen, and caught. This is the biggest one so far caught

I'm willing to bet that a Lochness Sea Monster exists.... but a long time ago. In current day.... no. It's too old to be living. There would have been multiple ones if there was at least one still living today (breeding would have stopped if there was only one of them).

I kinda want to believe some of them are true, but like Adam said, there would have to be more than just one, and they all couldn't possibly have the impossibly unfailing ability to remain unseen indefinitely. :P

Though the giant squids are something I believe to be possible. Its a deep ocean, much of it hasn't and can't be explored at this time.

No, but I belive in Large animals(colossal squids)
really, I think it's awesome those squids. those are GIGANTIC. really.
but I believe in extraterrestrials.
I'm just thinking now...
maybe the dragon legend was created when ancient tribes/cities found dinossaur skeletons and thought it was from "dragons"?

Post subject:  Re: Do you believe in Monsters?

I believe in Extra Terrestrials, like myself, after all, the univers is so... HUGE that it would be impossible for earth to be the only planet out of trillions (or whatever) of others that has life.

I also believe in dragons too, if you look at many ancient civilizations, they all seem to show some sort of dragon like creatures, and why is it also that many depictions of dragons also show them breathing fire? If it was all started from some dinosaur bones that got them thinking, then why is there multiple instances of the breathing fire? Bones dont breathe fire...

I also believe in the loch ness monster "nessie", big foot, the yeti and spirits/ghosts, if they can be classified as monsters...

Although not really mmonsters, I do believe in doppelgangers, although I have nevers seen one

yeh, i have to agree

Extraterrestrials have to exist. To many sightings to not be real, and the universe is massive on an enormous scale.

Well, now that we are expanding to ETs... I'd gotta say it's probably as diverse of ETs as shows like Stargate and Star Trek would have us believe. Only the Stargate and such things would be the really sci-fi parts of the shows. We are only on one planet after all!

They said something about there having once been water on Mars.... maybe an alien race once existed there? They only have microscopic things on Mars now... but imagine the very distant past. :D

Post subject:  Re: Do you believe in Monsters?

I would love to see another earthlike planet in my life.
I saw an article that says that alien planets can have plants with different colours because their star can emmit other color...
maybe aliens(Not xenomorphs, I'm saying extraterrestrials) can see other colors too?
and I don't think all aliens are those stereotipical warriors that only want to destroy others.
and... why some people would enter in panic if they discover that aliens exist? ok, maybe they can be strange, but they lived and evolved in a totally different environment. this leads to many ways to evolve. maybe they don't speak with mouths? they use vibrations in air or something... communicate with them can be difficult.
maybe that why no alien race has communicated us yet? how they could say that they came in peace? maybe they know that humans are somewhat distrustful.
one thing that I would love to do is play on aliens PCs :D maybe they have uber technology to render ambients.
About Mars... maybe it once allowed life... but, if they were sapient, probably we would alerady discovered something. why we didn't found bones or ruins yet in mars?
only if they're underground.
Oh, I would love to know if Europa had life or not.
annnnd... Can't other lifeforms survive without water? maybe they use another substance... we think that water is necessary because life here needs water. maybe in other planet it doesn't.

Post subject:  Re: Do you believe in Monsters?

We only sent a single robot to Mars that actually made it. All it did was cut some rocks and take samples that it analysed. That's how we know water once existed on Mars, and there are currently (so far) only microscopic organisms living.... IN the rocks.

Personally, I only believe in ghosts.

There are probably some weird freaking creatures deep down in the ocean that could classify as 'monsters', but I doubt that Big Foot, the Loch Ness Monster, and Dragons have ever existed.

Post subject:  Re: Do you believe in Monsters?

I wouldn't go so far as say dragons never existed. I mean, face it, in just about every culture there is a dragon in some form or another. There has to be some reason for this, hasn't there?

Fire breathing, gold hording, reptilians with nigh magical powers? Probably not.

Ancestral memories from long ago? Dunno.

Dinosaurs (or something like them) that simply forget to go extinct, with horrendous breath? Perhaps.

"Man, did you see that big lizard thing? Its breath was so bad, it could melt your face off!"

Could easily be retold time and again to eventually resemble something like this:

"The dread dragon swooped down on my great great grand father and, in a breath a fire and brimstone, singed his eyebrows off!"

Post subject:  Re: Do you believe in Monsters?

Now that Sgt kelly said about ghosts, I don't undertand why some people see ghosts like evil things.
I mean, why the hell the ghost of, say, your grandfather, do any evil to you?
yeah, it could exist evil ghosts, as exists evil people living. but not all ghosts are evil.
the same about extraterrestrials. not all of them are genocidal.

Post subject:  Re: Do you believe in Monsters?

Well, going on the Big Foot thing.... it's also possible. However, people like to exaggerate stuff, so he might not really be a monster at all, just a frightened creature that just decided to try start roaring and the people freaked out and ran off instead.

Been a while since I was able to remember much stuff about Big Foot though...

But LNM and Dragons? Definately existed.... they were just far in the past and called dinosaurs today.

well if theres any monsters its my sister :rotfl:
no but really i believe in werewolfs cause there can be a genetic malfunction if a woman by any chance gets any wolf dna in to her blood stream then gives birth to a son he will be part of that dna and will probably become a werewolf but thats my scientific side talking :this:

Er... That doesn't make any sense at all...

Humans and wolves have different amounts of chromosomes, which basically means that there is no way for the DNA to intermingle. At all.

Plus babies are not made by putting animal DNA into a woman's blood stream...

OBJECTION! (sorry been playing that DS game)
It is possible although not through the method described. It is possible to GM a Human DNA to have Wolf traits (eg claws, sharper teeth, etc.) although this would cost alot (you would have to map a wolfs DNA to do this) and has little chance of success (it would probably die in birth or kill the mother before birth

You do not seriously believe that's how babies are made do you, grizzlykiller?

P.S As for whether I believe in monsters, I believe that it is possible, but highly unprobable.

P.P.S :duel: I shall argue both sides (I'm weird like that)
Yes, there are monsters. It is very likely that you see them everyday. They dominate everywhere they go and are destroying the earth.
Humans...

I Don't think that Dragons are monsters and am quite offended by your view, although I do understand that it is your view so I have no right to change it.
Have you ever read the Pern series? give me one example of a Dragon that is a monster from that series. Humans are more monsters than dragons are.
Also if you learn about there origins then you will learn that Dragons were originally guardians of the heavens, demi-gods. You are therefore calling gods monsters. You are therefore insulting all religions...
That's my view, you have no right to change it, like I have no right to change yours.

P.S.N.B Just kidding! although I would prefer it if you did not class dragons as monsters in future...

The point is moot because dragons do not exist...

And you're taking my post the wrong way. I brought up dragons because earlier posts discussed them. If you want to rant about monster classifications talk to the guys who brought it up earlier.

Although Glosmostinex did talk about Dragons he did not class them as monsters, but legends. I know he insinuated it, *shakes fist at Glosmostinex* but he may not have meant to.

Yeah, I meant that maybe Dragon legends were created by ancient societies which found dinosaurs fossils and thought that they were "gods" or something like that.
Personally I do not believe in Dragons(I mean in the fire-breathing, flying dragons) but if there's a proof by some scientists, I will believe. ;)

It's just weird how a large creature, that can spit fire, flies, etc, becomes extinct.
but then, one would say that to dinosaurs, yet they existed. but they don't had built in flamethrowers though.

And I don't see dragons as monsters. If they existed, I would see them as powerful creatures. what I consider a monster is a creature that has few individuals(like the lake ness monster , but since the dragon legend is so widespread then existed lots of dragons.

Hell, I'm contradicting myself saying that there's lots of dragons but I don't believe in them!

Also, monsters is a weird subject since there's legends there that were told a long time ago, and or the monster lived a long time ago OR it had other individuals(unless it had asexual reproduction, but it would be odd) so that the species could survive until now.

I am not saying that they do exist, am I am not saying they do (get me? (I don't half the time))... But I would be cool if they did (thinking of Pern kind of dragon, not an unintelligent beast)

I would like to apologize to Sergeant Kelly (Sorry! :beg: ). I just don't like it when people assume that dragons would be unintelligent monstrosities; they could be I will admit, but I doubt that they would be unintelligent...

Raziel

P.S I know I am weird, but then again I have read a lot of Anne McAffre, every Eragon Book so far, The Tawny Man Trilogy (Don't read them they are a waste of your life), most of the David Gemmell books, Naomi Norvik's Temeraire... Should I go on?

P.P.S and my brother got me a book called "Dragonology" as a joke... I read it... its a good read, I highly recommend it...

Bah, I still say there is some basis to the whole world wide beleif in dragons (or similiar) in almost all ancient cultures.

Personally I think it had something to do with dinosaur bones/dinosaur offshoots that somehow existed longer than others.

As for the flying, sure, I can beleive it. There were flying dinosaurs. As for fire breathing, I think that would be the work of imagination and/or exageration.

And I really have my doubts that the creatures beleived to be dragons (assuming they existed) were much smarter than your average chicken.

Maybe it all began when a bunch of cavemans saw a lost tyranossaurus rex jumping from a mountain throwing his fetid breath. heh.

Do zombies class as monsters? Because very soon a superpower is going to perfect the virus that will draw the zombies from the ground. And then all my Left 4 Dead gaming will be handy!!!

I would not class them as monsters...
as for Left4Dead becoming useful... when was the last time you came across a table, in the middle of a train station, with weapons; ammo; and health packs?
Nah, If you want to survive a Zombie horde read the book on it, cannot remember then name, but it is best to stay in your home at the top of the stairs with something long and pointy; take a door off its hinges and put it on the stairs to make a slope so the zombies have less grip as the try to reach you...

Raziel

P.S but if there are any zombies like hunters/tanks/smokers you're gonna be F**ked XD
