Deus Ex and Metal Gear Solid hands down. Deus Ex has some amazing tracks and the MGS music is made by a couple pretty well known composers. (Same with the DX stuff, those guys did the Unreal music as well.) Listening to the MGS stuff in 5.1 surround sound is just epic. Anything Jesper Kyd has ever done is immediately amazing. UT3 and Assassin's Creed are two of his absolute best. He makes epic music. I am going to be Mr. Generic here and say Frank Klepacki, as well as whoever wrote the music for Half-life 1 & 2, though unfortunatly those tracks end quickly so most people wonder probably if there was any music at all. Some tracks for good ol' KKND2 were great, and so was the boss themes for Serious Sam. The terran music for Starcraft is also notable, though not the best for a massive gunfight. But that is for action games, for fantasy it is probably Majesty, which had the best medieval sounding music I have ever heard, even though there were only 5 tracks they never got old. |

It struck me how few people give a damn about music in the unreal series. It had some great tunes: notably Go Down which has been remixed about twenty thousand times, and from the original Unreal there were loads of great tracks which no-one even knows the name of, the best of which is called Neve and was featured in the great map ONS-Araja. </rant> So yeah, VG music is really the most overlooked part of game design, but when it's done properly it really adds to the experience. Any one here tried 'UT2004 Troopers'? Great TC with great music. Actually,I've been avoiding putting up unreal music for the reason that I thought it was pretty obvious,I mean... Who here DOESN'T know about the awesome of the unreal series? Although that Foregone Destruction remix was bad-ass,awesome find Drake. |
