Noticed the boards seem a bit.....post apocalyptic, thought id post something to talk about.

Now, over the last few days, ive been questioning my existence.

I keep thinking, what if the world was nothing. It was just something i made up in my mind one day, and has continued ever since. Imagine, the person im talking to isnt there, i just think they are.

What if, every person in the universe imagines their own life, and mine just so happened to include the Earth, and nothing im doing is real.

Am i being to deep?

The hard counter to philosophy is this:

If it looks like a duck, moves like a duck, quacks like a duck, chances are it's a duck, because there's no reason for it to be anything else.

It's a 4chan meme. Using one of those under an actual name, outside of 4chan or outside of a 4chan raid makes one a "newfag".

Sleeping Beauty?
:D

I've also been thinking about that. Like, what if Life is just a "dream" or something like that. What happens when you die?

I find it hard to believe in that part of christianism of "Heaven" or "paradise". The problem of it is that Paradise is Overpopulated. How many people die and "go to paradise"?

If there's really a soul that frees from the body when the person dies, there MUST be a infinite universe. just imagine how many humans die AND aliens die each second.
Really, I'm sure that while I'm typing this at least one human died.

Nature is so cruel. The only way to eliminate overpopulation in the wild is by death. You can't live anymore, your flesh will be consumed by bacteries(eheh, that sounds like a Death Metal lyric) and that's it.

We die to serve as food for the soil and bacteries. Unless there's really another life, but we don't know.
Come on, if there's Really a god, why he/she/it doesn't talk to us or something like that?
That one reason which I don't believe very much in religion. Don't take me wrong, religion also tells good things, like virtues and etc. But then, Religion was probably created to comfort us from what supposedly happens: you die, and there's nothing after that.

So existance is only the period which our cells are active and working together, I guess.

Exactly! Ive been pondering what will happen when i die? Im not religious, i dont believe in heaven.

Will i just black out one day as myself, and wake up a minute later as a new baby?

I exist. Dunno about you lot. :D

I used to be pretty good in my Religious Studies class. I had to quit though, because all the debating made my head hurt. But I have decided that I was created by a God. There are several reasons for this:

1. The universe is too much of a coincidence for it to be a coincidence. If the atoms in our bodies were only even minutely different there would be no life.

2. Something caused the universe. What made the Big Bang happen?

3. There is so much we don't know. Why can't God be one of the things we don't know about?

We exist to live. If we weren't meant to exist, why do we live?

Because if God were to prove Themself to us, prove that they exist, that would completely destroy religion. If we knew God existed, there would be no need for belief or faith, as we would have knowledge of Them. Not only that, but we would have a scapegoat for everything that went wrong in the world. That would be stupid, as everything bad would be blamed on God and no justice would be done.

Well, if Earth, and the universe and everyone in it are my creation in my mind, im glad i live here.

1. The universe is too much of a coincidence for it to be a coincidence. If the atoms in our bodies were only even minutely different there would be no life.

In plenty of other places in the universe, this is not so. The existence of the correct conditions to promote life in one place does not imply that this was caused by a higher power.

2. Something caused the universe. What made the Big Bang happen?

Science doesn't have an answer, yet. Religion has an answer, but every other answer to anything provided by religion was destroyed and superseded by science. Creation is no different.

3. There is so much we don't know. Why can't God be one of the things we don't know about?

Because God is as simple as a creation of humanity to explain that which was, at the time, unexplainable. With the existence of science, God is an unnecessary construct clinged to by those afraid to confront the truth of their own transience and mortality. There are many other gods, and they are easily dismissed by modern people as impossible. For a good example of that, try the Roman / Greek pantheon, which has no known worshippers in modern times.

We exist to live. If we weren't meant to exist, why do we live?

You ascribe purpose to the universe, which has no inherent purpose. The universe exists because it exists. It needs no reason. Similarly, life evolved from the most basic of organisms, and due to natural selection and evolution only those organisms which possessed traits which allowed them to survive were carried on forward. These kinds of traits are favoured by nature and they are the reason why we "exist to live" (exist to survive) - because if we didn't, we'd be dead.

The intelligent thinker does not need a divine scapegoat for anything that goes wrong in the world, since the truth is that nobody is personally responsible for what they become, and plenty of people blame human figures for that which is wrong in the world. Politicians are a great example. If these mere humans do not crumble under the weight of that meaningless blame, a divine being will not either.

Jesus allegedly walked the Earth performing miracles and proclaiming himself the Son of God. Sounds like a pretty overt declaration to me of divine existence, and it passes because Christfags would otherwise have absolutely no way to even begin claiming that a God existed. No divine being would judge humans at all (because nobody is truly responsible for what they become), let alone judge them by their willingness to believe in something with no proof. The reason people will believe in something without proof is because they think they stand to gain something - in this case, evasion of the destruction of consciousness at death.
