the mayans used the word K'in for a day. they used the word Winal for a period of 20 days (20 K'in). they used the word Tun for 18 Winals (roughly 360 days, or a year 20x18) as a measurement of time. a Katun was 20 Tuns, or 20 years. the Baktun was 20 Katuns, or roughly 400 years. so far, in the mayan calandar, there have been 13 Baktuns (each about 400 years long). in December 2012 we enter the 14th Baktun. the Baktun is basically a new "era". it means nothing, but the mayans labeled 12/12/2012 as the "end of the era" (the era being the 13th Baktun), which signals the begining of the 14th Baktun (era). a lot of retards look at the phrase "end of an era", and think it means "end of time". that is why retards think the world will end in 2012, when in reality, we just complete one cycle of a mayan calandar. why is this? because of the way the mayan calander is written, in 12/12/2012, it will look like this: "13.0.0.0.0". now let me tell you what those numbers mean with this hypothetical calendar date: "12.13.14.15.16". the fifth number (16) is the K'in (it increments every day) the forth number (15) is the Winal. (it increments every 20 days, or K'in) the third number (14) is the Tun (this is the year, it increments every 18 Winal, or 360 days) the second number (13) is the Katun (this increments every 20 years) the first number (12) is the Baktun (this increments every 20 Katuns which are 20 years each, so every 400 years) these numbers dont mean much, they were just a way to keep record of time. what happens in 12/12/2012 is that the first number (the Baktun) increments by 1. that is ALL that happens. it just like the year turning from 1999 to 2000 in our calendar, and we thought that was a big deal (not because of the Y2K bug, but because it was a new millennium) and for the same reason, the mayans thought that date (12/12/2012) is significant, because it marked the end of an era. like i said before, retards will think "era" means "time" and freak out and think the world is ending. so thats the whole story. dont feed into the media frenzy. |

I just had an epiphany. The world will end in the year 2048. Throughout the bible, there is a common theme on the number 2. The animals were loaded onto the arc 2 by 2. The disciples were sent out in pairs. There are many choices or differences stated in pairs: good--evil, light--dark, life--death etc. Also, Pharaoh's dream that Joseph interpreted was repeated a second time. So, if we consider that this means that God's timetable revolves around the base 2 numbering system, then the year 2047 would be 11111111111 in base 2. In 2048, the year represented in base 2 would be 100000000000. This would be the end of the cycle, which would be the end of the world and mortal humanity as we know it. |

Well, If something happens in 2012 ( A apocalypse, that its) I would not even care, as when dead I would not even know that Earth was destroyed. But I doubt that something will happen. And even then, it just means, for the Mayans, a new era, right? So, if that's true, it can be a good thing too, or just another period of time for a almost unused calendar. |

Cmon, the mayans were just too fat to make a larger calendar. ... Or maybe something will end?  I doubt the world would blow up/get apocalypse'd or invaded by zombies, but its possible a new era will begin. Maybe something epic happens like moses and jesus make a comeback and throw a rock concert with amon amarth or something haha.

I'd take Apocalypse above a recession any day. 2012: Bad: Paris Hilton becomes elected as UN General Secretary due to the overwhelming number of people turning stupid, the USA elects some whiny teen popstar as Big Chief, pupils everywhere are required to know Kanye Wests lyrics (memorization) over those of Shakespeare (when Shakespeare's are much dirtier and fun), Iron Man 2 comes out only to be defeated by a film depicting Britney Spears life, and the Transformers arrive. Good: Ummm. I dont know. Maybe a new mathematical system is developed and applied in reality to increase the efficiency and usefulness of a thousand different things by tweaking various variables, etc? That would be pretty cool. |

2012, several million people commit suicide in vurtue to negate the possible pain of the apocalypes, rapture, or whatother. The people that don't believe in any of the crap go on with life normally, when the fateful day hits, the 10 year olds run around teabagging the people who stupidly killed themselves over absolutly nothing. If the world somehow does end, I'm not afraid, I can't feel anything because I'm dead!
