So I've had my gaming rig (which I realize i still have yet to upload promised pictures of xD) for about 3 and a half years now.. its still beast, but when it comes to Empire Total War or Fallout 3 (Fear2 surprisingly ran amazingly well on super high, sometimes graphics lag) i have to drop the quality down to get it to run smoothly, i hate this, well its an annoyance. Because i wanna play ETW with beautiful graphics because of its historic significance XD or something like that. So, I figure I'll wipe the whole machine clean, install Windows 7, take my two 320's harddrives out of Raid 0, buy a 2.6 or 2.8 Ghz Quad core CPU.. All this i hope (plus there is 4 gigs total in my machine, 2 being used, so after it'll be using all 4) SHOULD significantly improve the gaming.. god i hope so, i would love to keep my 8800 GTX, but if push comes to shove, i'll get something better thats out their, and they r pretty good prices... hell the 2.8 Quad core is $230... which is 30 more than the 2.6 & has double the L2 cache!! So, you think all this will boost performance a boat load, like a ton or won't and i'll end up having to grab a new GPU? |

Well, you talking about some pretty high end merchandise there, those parts arn't bad at all.. I think a good old formatting might cure most of those issues, of course requirements vary from game to game, and cards don't allways work the same for all games, even if they seem to be of the same detail... |

The 8800 GTX is an aging card, just a generation newer than mine and mine is starting to stutter or even struggle at the medium settings in modern games. I fear how Red Faction: Guerilla will treat it. . . |

I have a computer with Athlon X2 overclocked to 3.3GHz, GeForce 8800GT /w 512MB RAM, 4 GB system RAM, and 64-bit Win 7. I get 30-50 FPS when just running or driving around, but once a building starts to come down, 10 FPS is not uncommon. |

II don't know if installing Windows 7 makes games run any faster. I was going to install XP on my new rig...when I get it. |

I hope the settings are flexible enough to get the framerate smooth, even at the cost of lots of graphical beauty. |

I could change some things like AA, shadow detail, particle detail. However, I could not change physics detail leve (I guess I see why) or texture detail. |

That ain't good, doesn't the game have config files that offer more freedom though? |
