Blade Sword I love the XM8 that you posted It's my favorite Assault Rifle.

Unfortunately, I don't think the MG36 is a prototype gun by any stretch of the imagination.

There is alot of Pictures of Real Guns on here that aren't Prototypes but to each is his own I suppose.

you've got some repeats in there.

and what is with that rapier? it looks like they went 'I want a gun' and changed their mind.

Most of these combos were mainly due because of the gun had some limitations and were used in close range combat like in a boat.
There is some revolvers but in ancient times when guns were almost all single shot having a good bayonet was important.

I repost the Beretta 70/90 and the sterling BR they are both lost in the internet void

I removed the duplicates, fun fact pretty much all the modern weapons already existed in the past at some point. they for some just didn't worked very well (rocket launchers) or needed several improvements (other guns)
