Post subject:  Your weapon of choice?
Of any weapon, either real or not. TV show, game, movie, real, futuristic, whatever. If you're so inclined, say why too.

I've gotta say, I've got a real fondness for the M1 Garrand. It's semi-auto, ejects the cartridge and is lightning quick to reload. It's hella accurate and is hard to break.

Either that or the Experimental MIRV from Fallout 3, or something like the BAR. God damn, I love spray 'n' pray. Both weapons here work for that. If you've never seen the mirv from fallout, I'm sure there's a youtube video of it somewhere.

Oh, and the Colt Anaconda. That thing's got STYLE.

Shotgun: The SPAS-12. It looks so badass and menacing, except I knew about it way before most games started putting it in. *cough* MW2 *cough* Not to mention it has a semi auto firemode, which is usually forgotten in games.

Sniper: I'd say the AW50. It combines the awesome design of the Arctic Warfare with the power of a .50 BMG round.

SMG: The MP5, probably with the A5 extendable stock. It's got a reputation for reliability too.

Assault Rifle: The SCAR-L. (not because of MW2) It's awesome looking, has good firepower, and seems reliable. Plus it's going to be integrated into US forces.

Heavy Weapon: Probably the M32 MGL. It's got a Picatinny rail for mounting stuff, a revolver cylinder, and it launches grenades!

Handgun: This is a tough one. I'd say the Glock 17, or if possible the Glock 18. For high caliber handguns, I'd take a .50AE Desert Eagle and a .44 Magnum Raging Bull.

Rocket Launcher: The SMAW. It can launch thermobaric warheads, and isn't like the AT4 where you have to discard each tube after you fire. However, it has a flaw: a 300 ft backblast.
Alternatively, I'd go with the M202A1 FLASH- a big, square rocket launcher with 4 incendiary rockets.

For shotgun: The Jackhammer. Not many bullpop shotguns.

Sniper: M82 Barret .50 cal. 'Nuff said.

SMG: Sten. Talk about adaptability.

Assault Rifle: FAMAS. Something about bullpop rifles....

Heavy Weapon: I would have to say the Browning M2. Need I say more?

Sidearm: HK Mk.23. It evens out just about anything.

Heavy Weapon 2 (Rocket Launcher): Device "D" noiseless grenade launcher / pistol. Again 'nuff said. http://world.guns.ru/grenade/gl52-e.htm

For a melee weapon
I choose the railgun sword !!

To me I have two sidearms of choice
An automatic pistol with a 30 rounds caseless ammo magazine
A large caliber revolver that can use bullets and shotgun shells
A laser pistol that can blind people when its needed

For medium weapons
I would say an assault rifle with with caseless ammo, a multishot grenade launcher, a computerized scope and a beam saber bayonet
A laser autorifle that have a plasma grenade launcher, a switch blade and of course a computerized scope
A multishot railgun shotting through walls is a great thing
An assault shotgun with an underbarrel spear launcher

For Heavy weapons that would be
A caseless ammo minigun
A laser minigun
A multishot missile / grenade launcher

For tactical explosives
I choose a grenade that can be set up as a mine or used in combat with a remote control command

For an ultimate weapon
A missile launcher that shoots a missile that shoots rockets during it's flight

Assault Rifle: Well, I think that I like a lot of these, both the M16 and the AK47. Oh, the XM8 too. The M16 and the XM8 because they look cool, and the AK47 because it's so reliable, without little things that don't have use. And It's from Soviet Union, comrades! :P

Shotgun: Hmmm I don't know. But these Automatic shotguns are cool I guess.

Sniper: Well, I will be a Runestorm fanboy and say that my favourite Sniper is the Railgun. ok, it doesn't exist and a railgun maybe is not a sniper, but the BW Railgun is so cool, it's so powerful that I cry when I use it. (ok, that's a bit of drama.)
In the real world, the Barrett (spelling?) is nice though.

Handguns: Well, the Revolvers are the most cool and kickass looking, but the desert eagle is also cool.

Other: MY OWN WEAPONS that I will make when I become a Game developer, on a Game I'm planning. (well, I actually have plans about 3-4 games, though I guess I will never make them without a team. I only have my brother to help :P )

Oh the UT weapons are also really well designed. though it's visuals in UT2004 were horrible. I would love to have a Shock rifle or a Flak Cannon in real life :P

The M82 is the first high caliber rifle. And the fact the it is still in use today says "this gun is unstoppable."

AR: P90, ever since watching SG1 when I was younger, not the best, but still my favourite
Pistol: Waylander the Slayer's Double Crossbow, Not a pistol I know, but is used one handed and is awesome/iconic
Rocket Launcher: Bolter... RPB
Shotgun: so hard to choose... probably the shotgun from Unreal 2, I loved the incinerator shells
Heavy Weapon: Redeemer (UTGOTYE/UT99 version) or Turbo-Plasma-Rifle off Fallout (original) because both are awesome.
MG: Akimbo Miniguns off TimeSplitters 2
SMG: cannot decide

The P90 is an SMG and is part of the new class of personal defense weapons (PDW), just like the MP7
those weapons have better armor penetration than classic SMGs due to the bullet design of their ammo witch is highly similar to those from assault rifles, but they doesn't replace assault rifles because they are much weaker than them and they have a lower range as well ...
A classic Bullpup AR is more efficient than a PDW

There is the Steyr Aug that is very famous and the Tavor (TAR 21)
Yeah Killzone have a lot bullpups I think that's because the game is futuristic, no ?
Those weapons are very effective though despite their compactness for most of them.
but the only thing that differentiate an assault rifle from an SMG is the ammo, I found a documentary that talked about that

Eh, the lines between assault rifles, battle rifles, sub machine guns, and machine pistols always get blurred.

The first true 'Assault Rifle' so to speak (STG-44) was named the MP44 by Hitler, which literally means Machine Pistol 44.

And some machine guns. The Stoner 63 is a LMG and is also classified as an assault rifle. The BAR is the same way... It's a HAR(Heavy Assault Rifle) and is classified as a machine gun.

Overall Weapon of choice: Double Barreled shotgun from bioshock 2. For it's multipurpose abilites, from normal 00 buck, to solid slugs, to phosphorus buck and even it's ability to electrocute enemies.

Well, not exactly. An assualt rifle uses an itermediate bullet (can be short and fat or long and skinny). A battle rifle is an assualt rifle that uses a full size rifle bullet. A submachine gun is an automatic weapon that uses pistol bullets. A machine pistol is just another name for an smg.

And the MP43/44 was called such so that it could be brought into production under Hitler's nose, since he had declared that only rifles and smgs could be developed. He finally relented when he observed its capabilities and named it STG44. Also in development was the STG45 and the VG 1-5.
