Oh, Crysis 2 is coming this year? I thought it would come in 2011! I just hope it won't be rushed for the holiday release, nor the console version "dumb down" the PC version. The developers say that they won't do that, so let's hope they are being sincere. And from the screenshots, I couldn't say that the graphics improved A LOT. it isn't like a huge jump, just some little improvements. Maybe playing the game will reveal the differences. And I'm curious on how these orange aliens are related to the blue ones in the first game. |

yeah alot of promising games are coming out this year. Im partial to the just released ones , such as AVP and Bad Company 2 , their multiplayer is top notch. On a side note the new AVP is a love it or hate it. I love it , and well for the majority well its kinda wishy washy. |

The two games I am planning on getting this year are Just Cause 2 and Fallout: New Vegas. Other than that...I don't know. Perhaps we'll have to wait and see if a new Elder Scrolls game is going to be announced. |

Crytek did mention in an interview that they will not dumb down the PC version. How true those words are we will not find out yet though. |

Im waiting for Halo Reach, and Fallout New vegas. Eventually im gonna snag metro 2033. Im still playing Fear2 so i got some catchin up to do. Dead space 2 sounds pretty sweet. Issac is back and he's got a JETPACK! AVP was good, i liked the ending for the human the best though. and im not even gonna buy CNC4 because they ruined my most favorite game series of all time. I've got every single CNC... but that one will NOT be in my collection. Also S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat was really good, i played through it again much more thoroughly and got the really good ending. That game has a lot of stuff in it. |

I'm not really waiting on any games that much. I appear to have stagnated. I mean, sure, I might buy that new Fallout game, and I am going to buy Portal 2 whenever that turns up, but I don't have a ny real concrete plans for my money. And anyways, I finally got round to it and bought the Orange Box, so for the next couple of weeks at least - I have TF2 to enjoy failing at. |

Deus Ex: Human Revolution? I know it's out in 2011, but it'll be really early 2011 so it counts as 'this year'. It's a prequel, so you'll probably turn out to be JC Denton's father or something. They'll find a way to squeeze him into the storyline. Oh, and it turns out that Majestic 12 actually exists. Nice. |

Do elaborate, because quite frankly I see nothing "dumbed down" about the graphics in PC UT3. Sure it is overly shiny and stock maps are desaturated, but that doesn't qualify for the phrase. Tom10320 wrote: I know it's out in 2011, but it'll be really early 2011 so it counts as 'this year'. No it doesn't. |

As far as i can tell, UT3 was somewhat dumbed-down. The resolutions of textures are very much capped at a size that would accomodate Consoles. The same may be true of GoW for PC as well. |

theres an issue with game companys and the pc i would like to adress, ever since the xbox 360 and ps3 came out the pc is being treated like crap, an example would be alan wake they canceled the pc version WHY!, i thought it was because the pc can easily download games of the internet but then i thought, wait a minute you can chip and download games for the xbox 360 ad ps3! so whats wrong with the pc! the answer ill tell you The pc is being treated lower because no one actually owns the pc like bill gates and the xbox or sony with the ps3 the reason is that game companys can get money not only off of people buying the game but the console producers aswell but with the pc they cant and only receive money off the people buying the game, and they get a MASSIVE bonus when they make a game only for a specific console, but what REALLY screws it up is when they make a game for a specific console THEN they make a sequel to that game for every console including the pc the game tha did this is called saints row 2 they screwed up big time its the reason you dont hear of that game much its like of a movie company made a movie ad brought it out on dvd then said wait a minute you need a really expensive Bose dvd player to watch it it would be so annoying, but another thing i have been use to playing games on the pc for my entire life and when a game comes out on the xbox and ps3 but no the pc its a big kick in the teeth and VERY annoying Thats My speech for the day thank you

This is even when the first Xbox and the PS2 were here. Most first person shooters were Xbox or even PS2 ports mostly since 2003 + there is a lot. And yes UT 3 is a bit dumbed down, but that's the case of many sequels today |

Aye.. Anyhoo.. No games this year that have me particularly excited. Nothing i can think of that will make me jump around joyfully.. Crysis2: meh... A graphics showcase.. And no doubt requiring a PC that few will have.. The first one really didn't interest me too much. It had decent looking jungles, but other than that.. Not much i really cared for. |

Crysis is just good for mods, it have nice concepts, I loved the power swap system and the weapon customization in this game, but the shooting wasn't that great compared with farcry for example. And Yeah Crysis 2 just sounds to be that. There isn't much exciting games this year. I think STALKER CoP sounds to be the game of this year |

I'm actually looking forward to Crysis 2 because of its setting; New York City. If they do it right it could be a very fun game that has mindblowing graphics as a nice bonus for those more fortunate when it comes to PC power. However they really should make the graphics settings highly scalable so that the game can run well on older PCs at the cost of graphics quality while it can go higher than any modern PC can handle, if desired. This is the beauty of the PC platform really; developers can put in settings and effects that are not meant to be used until the hardware tech has advanced more. Crysis is an example of this although it didn't take too long for the absolute max to become viable. |

I function on 'when Christmas has worn off and we actually have enough money to start thinking about buying stuff again' time, which starts in May. If it's based on DirectX 10, then I would't expect that much compatibility. As it stands, most Direct3D10 based games work much better on modern PCs, so if they have to put in a DirectX 9 mode so it can run on someone's 2005 enthusiast PC it just ruins the point of having a cutting edge game. I do agree on making it too demanding for todays PCs, though. They did it with Flight Simulator X, which still stresses my system quite a bit. That was designed to still offer something to players much further in the future. They were right, I'm still playing it now! |

You'll hardly notice the difference between a DX10 and DX9 game. I don't think any developer has fully utilised what DX9 can even do yet. It's probably still in their interest to keep a DX9 version around. Who knows though, maybe they've made a deal with Microsoft |

Yeah, i never understood this whole "Intense Graphics Culture". Sure at first it's like "Wow, they can do that!?, then it's just meh, this is boring". Crysis was like that, it seemed to lack some real substance, it's story was ok, but nothing great.. It's hard to find games these days that don't prioritize graphics, Valve has the right idea, but many others don't. Stalker is more the right kind of thing, well balanced graphics and an interesting free form story, quite nice. 10 and such years ago, games were more about interesting gameplay concepts and cool stories like Unreal 1, but after those days things just went graphics crazy and the percentage of decent games went down.. Still there have been many great games since then, graphically enhanced and otherwise, it's all good... |

In my opinion Unreal still has the biggest "wow" moment in gaming history when it comes to graphics advancement. No gamer had ever seen scales like what was presented to them as they walked out of the Vortex Rikers. And I still like the graphics in this game, it can look quite nice with updated renderer and higher-res textures. |
