No movie ever made me cried out of sadness. In fear, yes. Sadness, No.

I've watched two of the saddest movies of all time (IMO) Titanic and 7 pounds. Not one made me weep or had the urge to shed a tear.

Call me cold hearted, but reality's got sadder moments than a movie. Sorry.

What movie made you that sacred?

I don't really watch sad movies. There are definitely sad moments in the movies I watch.

Everyone has felt those goosebumps during certain segments in certain movies before, whether it is due to a touchy moment or very cool sound effects for examples. It all depends on what floats your personal boat, what touches you. We all get emotional, simply there are the people that keep these emotions to themselves while others express them to the outside. I am the former type. I have felt sadness many times, but never shed a tear before.

If this thread was a movie, then it would be the saddest of all.

And I don't say sad as really sad, I say it in a bad slang.

Call me a cry baby but it takes balls of steel for a man to admit he's sad or scared normally people just keep it to themselves and i do aswell but these two movies i could stop myself from shedding a tear but it opens your eyes to what really happened the movie i saw really opened my eyes about the second world war and how gruesome it was its a lesson in life and i wish my history class was like that movie cause ive learned more out of his movie than ive learned out of 20 history classes ;D

Sad movies, hmmm..

There are one or two epic movies here and there, but it's all about what touches your personality the most, epic movies are the only ones which have enough substance, nothing poorly made does that for me.. :P

As for scary, never had that, i got used to violent and scary movies at an early age, no movie ever made me scared, although being scared is natural, and not being is a complicated matter.. :D

Sure i've had a semi-nightmare or two, but about things in life, nothing that any so-called scary movie could cause, i find them all very imature, and stupid...

Hardly... ;D

BTW, i meant horror movies are imature and stupid, correct me if there are any that aren't.. :-\

Thrillers are good, such as Signs, The Village, and some others.. They are much better... :handgestures-thumbupright:

I guess some things are sad in some movies, but IME not more sad than reality...

As for scary, what movie is scary? I've never had a nightmare from any game or TV.
It isn't real. There are more scary things in reality...

Generalizations are NEVER true, which makes your statement bullshit like any other stereotypes.

"Generalizations are never true"

Much like where you mentioned Americans don't think perhaps?

Thats a generalization.

Post subject:  Re: Sad Movies :(

No it isn't. Generalizations are in their very evidence-limited nature not intended to be truthful, they are used for jokes or ignorance. No research is needed to support this statement because the definition is right in front of our noses.

I have to agree with that. Plus the part in bioshock one where you search around the dentist's area. You find a tonic, then you turn around and get a nitro splicer staring at you. That scared the SHIT out of me.

I found that Doom3 was as close to scary as one might get, like when wierd things happen and stuff starts moving around.
Although, often there were just sounds that were a little too loud which were a bit surprising.
After a while you get used to expecting stuff to jump out behind you though...

Post subject:  Re: Sad Movies :(

My favorite scare element in Doom 3 is Dr. Betruger. The voice actor for him will be remembered for having a great evil laugh.

Post subject:  Re: Sad Movies :(

Closest thing that came to scary for me was Stalker...

I found doom3 a little too predictable, besides that, only the unpredictable was scary, like corpses suddenly flying up into the air..

It's always more scary in my opinion, when you don't get pounced by some thing you expect, the unknown is far more scary than anything you can hear coming, like a loud banging on a door, then there is nothing there, or catching a glance of something, then finding out it's not there, or odd sounds behind you, then when you do find something, it's creepy!... :?

FYI, horror movies suck=my opinion, which=nothing more than true to me, but not everyone else.. :D

Opinions are how different poeple see the world, and for people to argue over each other's opinions is as pointless as saying Pumpkin is the best food in the world, when the other guy hates it!, nobody can say who is right, because everyone has a different opinion. It's all relative. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Of course there are extenuating circumstances in some cases.. ;)

STALKER is in a league of its own in terms of scaryness and atmosphere, especially the first one with its three secret labs. . .

But I think I'd give the gold medal to the Shalebridge Cradle from Thief 3: Deadly Shadows. You can't believe how happy I was when I finally got out of there after doing all the tasks and return back to the city and its human warmth.

Oh Yeah, that place!, i bet few people know about it.. :o

Altough i didn't find it as creepy as the Stalker labs, it did have an odd atmosphere and knocking sounds, creepy place!.. ;)
