| Post subject: | Laptop Help |
I have been thinking about Laptops recently, and I need some help getting started. I would like some suggestions about what model laptop to get. Here are some specifics: 1) I would love it if it was a Dell Laptop (Reason being is that I have used Dell computers almost my whole life, I will stand other brands) 2) Budget between $700-$800 (I will spend more if I have to, but if I don't, I won't) 3) Mostly a gaming and media computer. Thanks for any help you guys can give me! |

Laptops are not my field, but if you are looking for a gaming laptop you need to raise the bar a notch. You have to pay more for the power than if you invested in a desktop computer after all. |

I would go with that, but the problem is that I'm on the move a lot, so a Desktop would be a little problem. |

Speaking of power source; make sure that the laptop you buy can be directly fed by AC power (avoiding the battery altogether), or at the very least give you the option to remove the battery when it is not needed. Using the battery while plugging the laptop to external power source will otherwise wear it out real fast, since the battery will be recharged constantly that way. |

A gaming laptop is about the most expensive type of PC. Laptops are more expensive than desktops and gaming comps are more expenive than ordinary ones. If you want a laptop that is cheap and runs games, you'll have to only play fast (old) games! |

Yup!, if you want a good gaming Laptop, you're gonna be paying more than you would for any other hardware, due to their specialized nature... Still with a fairly good, and reasonably priced laptop you can play lots of old games, don't be fooled, there are many good old games if you don't mind the lack of graphical quality, however they mostly played better back then... You should be able to play games from 2006 back for a good price, after that, things get a little "Graphical", which equals increased cost.. Also gaming laptops are much more prone to overheating!.. ![]() You could always get an XBox, or some other console, that way you'll have a good gaming device, and a cheap work laptop, however you would have to carry two things, and the games are costly, but it's more portable if you're not looking to MOD anything... |
