they mod certain things likeyour grapple on your game or what bullets weapons fire
quite complicated for beginners but when you know what values are its quite easy

Hehe, thats two more mods than me.

One of these days I'll whip myself back into gear and get back to being an apprentice BF2 coder.

This is indeed modifying, as it doesn't involve writing any code, just modifying code that is already written. This is possible in games such as Doom 3 and Quake 4 as many of their scripts are not compiled but rather interpreted on-the-fly. This is piss-easy even for people not familiar with programming, unless the scripts are written/set-up in a non-straightforward way, but that would be the scripter shooting him/herself in the leg though.

Easy, yes. but you have to start somewhere ;)

Easy yeah, but you can't get to the real stuff until you've started on something like text-editing.. How else will you learn, books?, tutorials?, they work yes, but aren't as quick or fun.. And if you have a brain, you won't need them.. ;)

Keep it up!.. :handgestures-thumbupright:

Good fun. Best to start with something easy!

That would depend on the subject. I find documentation and tutorials very handy sometimes and absolutely essential in some cases...

For working with APIs, other people's code, etc., good documentation is absolutely essential. No matter how good a programmer is, no one can read minds of others.

Don't get me wrong, I agree, tutorials are always good, wether you missed something, want a quick start, or need them to get anywhere.. ;)

I myself have of course read many, so basically if you want to learn something quick and easy, use a tutorial or some other documentation.. :)

The only thing that might occure is that you may forget, given enough time of just following the instructions and not thinking outside the box of the documentation... :handgestures-thumbupright:

Still i would always recommend reading a tutorial or some other documentation, and ignore my previous post, it seems i didn't phrase it good enough....

I was trying to indicate that you can't be just book smart, you can't read all about C++ programming and say you can code C++, you have to have the experience of smaller things first to make it easier, or use tutorials and documentation to improve your efficiency and learn how a ceretain thing is done.. :P

One is never above learning, and looking at my post, i seem like a real ingorant idiot, that behaviour is reserved for jerks, my bad..
