I was saving this thread for the 22nd of May until I realised that I actually joined on the 2nd. Oops.

Well, anyway, I'd like to make an anniversary thread commenting on the one year and one week that I have spent as a RuneStormer. In the beginning, I signed up to 'bwcommunity.com' because I had a question and a request regarding the 2006 generation of Runestorm's mods - Ballistic Weapons. I was pretty new to the whole thing and had little to no experience in coding. One thing I had noticed was that there were no 3rd person animations, bad for someone who regularly plays with the Aerial View mod. So I signed up, because I had read the the site 'runestorm.za.net' was no longer continuing with the old projects and was instead starting some crappy project called 'The Crucible', which was really just a few characters and a gun that shot lightning at the time. And hence, on the second of May, 2009, I joined the BW community. And did nothing. For nine days. Eventually, on the 11th of May, I decided to speak.

This is a bit of a late addition, but there was one BW coding question that even my old coder friend couldn't answer - how do you modify the position a weapon goes to when you sprint ? The weapon aims off slightly and I was wondering how to change it to a more...realistic position like the m295 or the railgun. I always wanted to know how to change stuff but hey, I just make the models.

Oh, and by the way, if anyone at all knows how to integrate some 3rd-person animations for reloading etc. please can you let me know? I am making some but have absolutely no idea on how to get the bots (or me - romulus yo) to use them in game. Is it even possible?

I guess the point of this post is to say that RuneStorm has proved to me that it is possible for people to do what they believe in. I'm still working on those animations, as I have been for over a year now, and I am almost no closer to finishing them. In that year, I have seen three people realise more and more of their dreams, winning prizes and the support and admiration of many - including myself. While I sat here, getting more stressed about exams and still not doing what I said I would do.

The Crucible has become a fully realised game, with working mechanics, excellent characters and varied levels in less than a year. I have seen the two sites merge, the departure and return of a few forum friends and the continued evolution of the loyal forum members who only want to make a good thing better. So I salute Captain Xavious, Sergeant Kelly and all the others who continue to work on their passions, I salute everyone involved in the forum life.

And most of all I salute RuneStorm, the three brothers who took an idea and turned it into something excellent.

So, as I say goodbye and depart on the treacherous path towards my exams, I wish you nothing but success and luck in everything you do in the future. Someday you'll be up there, kicking the huge developers around like they're nothing, and I look forward to returning to see how much further your projects have come.

See ya later, everyone!

Thanks Tom (and everyone else) for the support! :)

This indie path is not an easy one, and we're not at the end yet, but damn we're working on it :D

We are indeed evolving, and hopefully we'll have something far more polished and finished than our previous projects soon, ready and out there for all to see (and buy :P

Yup, quite so... :)

Although early versions of projects might not look like much, given enough time and work they will become what the vision of them was ment to be... The Crucible is one such project, a project which has had it's flow and structure destroyed by the MSUC...

But meh, you learn, and soon we will have something alot more solid after all our horrible drudgery, something that you will all be happy with... :P

RS is finnally heading the right way, and we've learned where that is over the years, and it's not something you can teach.. ;D

With that said, you will be seeing some solid stuff in the near future.... ;)

Why thank you sir.

We're not near done yet with making the dreams into reality.
Its a difficult path, but hopefully with some hard work and experience, we can make it happen. ;)
Got some very interesting things going on at the moment... Hopefully we can unleash them soon... >:D
