Post subject:  Calling any Fallout 3 fans.

I am currently in the process of making a small mod for Fallout 3 where, essentially, you somehow wind up in some sort of underground facility, lose your weapons, meet a Ghoul Marine, and fight your way out of a classic Doom inspired dungeon, collecting guns and items Doom Style.

Here is what I got:

A Chainsaw, with new model and sounds, working in game.

A dungeon floor, with no items or lighting yet, laid out as close as I can get to Doom's E1m9.

Berserk, a chem that approximates the Doom berserk, with new models and textures.

Recolors for the Combat armor to fill in for the Security and Mega Armor of doom, also have recoloured shoulder pads that go on over armor to replace Doom's Armor Bonuses (will be in the same repair list as the mega and combat armor).

Various misc things to help fill out the things in Doom, like a hand gun that uses minigun ammo, leveled items, etc.

New creature classes for many of the original doom monsters, stats not assigned yet, using existing monsters as approximate analogs to originals.

What I don't have:

Voice acting for a new Ghoul companion, scripts/dialog for him (he is essentially the Doom guy, trapped in there for dozens of years). I might be able to do the voice acting myself though.

A story to tie everything together. So far, I'm thinking its going to be an underground military base, maybe Chinese, that has been doing Mutant research. What I don't know, is how to explain the player's inventory being taken away, and some way to get it back. I also need to figure out how to tie in the Ghoul.

A nice way of showing the chainsaw in third person. As it stands, it uses the Minigun style animations, which works out great in first person, but horrible in third person.

About 4 or 5 more cells for more floors of the dungeon.

Balance issues worked out for various things, particularly the monsters.

Where in the world space this well be entered from.

My goal:

To create a rather short, 4 or 5 floored dungeon (based off Doom levels) to implement my chainsaw and berserk chems, a new Ghoul companion to the game (I can't think of any ghoul companion available in the game other than the one from Underworld, who I think is actually evil), while having a story that fits fairly well with the Fallout Universe.

Is there anyone out there familiar enough with the fallout universe that could help me with a story?

Is there anyone out there that knows their way around the GECK to help me create some new cells for the dungeon? I have PDF files of every classic Doom level, in lines or textured, and sporting placement of every item/monster in the levels.

If you're not interested in the layout, but still know about GECK, maybe you could help with item placement and stuff?

How about balance? Anyone know enough about the balance of stats in this game to help me with monsters and some of the items?

I like to think that I have a decent knowledge of the game's lore, so I'd love to help write it. I'm OK with the GECK, and I am an animator, but so far I haven't found any way of putting in new weapon animations. So yes, I'd like to do something.

Only problem is as of four o'clock tomorrow morning I'll be driving around Europe for three weeks.

Oh, ok. Well, I'm not in any rush to get this done for the time being, its kind of a side project. But any help with Fallout would be nice.

Just whenever you could help, it'd be nice. :)

Story is definitely tough for me to figure out. :P

I'd like to find a way to put in weapon animations in too, its just that things seem so dang backwards when working with Fallout.

Plus I'm having some trouble getting the dang chainsaw balanced. The weapon animations seem to have way too much control over stuff that you can't mess with, and no matter what, the damage for the chainsaw seems excessive, no matter what I do, as it seems like the fire rate never changes.

It uses the same anims as the Gatling Laser, but damage is like, 4, so it seems like it would not do too much damage... But it does.

Anyways, have fun in Europe!

As for explaining why he's there, you could have it be a random 'while you're asleep you get captured' kind of thing, but I don't recall ever having to sleep... lol

If it's a chinese base, and there are... well, chinese in it, it would work if you're killing them and you get your stuff back at the end, prison style. As far as the ghoullie is, you could have him be like fawkes, just another prisioner if you're lazy about it.

Also, the gatling laser does rediculous damage. Try a yet smaller damage number. <.<

Interesting concept for a mod.
though my idea for as how you ended up in the depths of the facility is that you enter a room and suddenly gas starts to fill and you pass out, and wake up and meet that ghoul guy.
Whoo! 666ixth post!

His sinister post is a much better idea. I'd go with that.

Sounds like some decent ideas there.

maybe you got trapped underground because of something similar to vault 87: there were experiments with making super mutants or maybe experiments for turning ghouls back to humans. the scientists running the experiments kidnap subjects from the surface and put them in their cells. they need pure human subjects as a control group and that is why you got captured. also they naturally took your weapons, cuz you know, they dont wanna die. they think you are pure because they think you were born in the vault. you have to escape from their dungeon. i will help you in any way i can with this, it sounds pretty awesome. just lmk.

e: the ghoul is your cellmate. since they don't want to waste money there are 20-30 people per cell, all cramped and whatnot.

Ever heard of "Modders Resources"? Do you need some?

Yeah, I heard of modder's resources. I might need some, I dunno. It depends on what type of resources are available.

ive got some ideas for the pack ;D

why dont you add a ballistic weapon for like a easter egg but dont tell anyone where it is that would be ace i love easter eggs and this game hasnt got enough of them

also it would be ace if there was a quest where you met a man who said there was a special time machine so you could go back to before the bombs fell and get some cool tech as well as kill people yey for killing!! ;D

Post subject:  Re: Calling any Fallout 3 fans.

I do like my easter eggs. And I kind of was planning on converting some of Sgt. Kelly's weapons into the game at some point. I might just do that.

Or I might make a new plugin for the Ballistic Weapons. We'll have to see.

As for the time machine idea, eh, probably not. But, I might do a Simulation like in that one vault where you meet your dad. Hmm... yeah.. I can see it. It starts out all bright and sunny, but the further you go, the more it starts looking like Sin City rather than Pleasantville. >:D

It would of course have to be in black and white. ;)

That sounds like a fun mission. Maybe when I get this Doom one done I'll try my hand at it. Would you be interested in helping me with it?
