I like spiders. Those daddy long leg ones hide in my basement, eat flies, and then get eaten by the cats.

There is probably medication you can take for your phobia though.

Look at it this way, they are likely far more scared of you than you of them, they are small and you could easily kill them, just understand that the most common spiders in the home are harmless, the Long leg for example is good, it kills flies and other pesky insects.. :)

You should try and tackle your fear head on, kill spiders until you fear them less, take control, the more you avoid them, the more you will fear them.. I too am afraid of spiders, my case isn't as extreme but i still shake like crazy when i have to kill hunting spiders, damn things have a way about them, most spiders i don't mind, except for Hunting Spiders... :D

So just think of how scared that poor little spider is when it sees you coming with an implement of destruction, you always have the upper hand, they are helpless.... ;)

I got over my fear of spiders when one fell from the ceiling and I hit it in mid air with a ruler.

Try that.

How do you just try that, getting a spider to fall from the ceiling?
But you are right in at least one way.
When I was younger (only about 3 maybe 4 years ago) I was the same.
One day I had had a terrible day, everything went wrong. To make it worse a large spider decided to be chilling out on my desk, to be honest I was too tired to get a cup, put the cup over the spider and worry about it all night, so I took one of my boots to it. Since then I have not been as scared, and if I ever see a spider before bed and I am scared I go spider hunting.
Silly, inhumane and irrational... but it works for me ~.^

Mal

P.S Good hunting?

You ever try punching the spiders? Punching problems in the face usually solves them.

And remember, if you punch one, it won't have a chance of biting you because you just punched it. To death.

Though Xavious, some spiders are simply uneconomical to punch to death. Take the Spiderdemon, for example. You're better off just buying a big freaking gun.

And everyone knows daddy long legs evolve into spiderdemons in just a month or two...

Well, if you've gone berserk, punching is still totally viable.

But not in a drywall house though.
Punching spiders in a berserk state often leaves large impact marks on the walls that, if left unattended, can compromise the structural integrity of the house. or at the very least, long unattractive fissures on the walls.

Chances are one can't get over ones extreme fears alone, you need the help of someone else, professional help even.. :)

Phobias are a serious matter when they get out of hand, so get some help if you can't tackle the hairy beasts, cause you don't want it to go horribly wrong... ;)

i believe punching spiders is a optioin but then as drake said it would leave marks on my walls especcially with my power there would be no WALL!! ;D
i do intend to see professional help soon that should be able to cure my fear i think its because of the increase of spiderdemons that has caused me to be more scared :o

Tip: Do not play System Shock 2. I'm no arachnophobic but the spiders in that game send shivers down my spine never the less.

Obviously not all spiders are small... But most you will come across are, unless you live in tropical forests or desolate deserts.. :D

Big ones are usually far less harmful however, since they just use fangs and shred their victims, it's the little ones that usually give you serious problems, you gotta look out for some of them.. :)

Kill the bigger ones with brute force, kill the little ones with caution.. ;)

Or Unreal 2.... Kinda. There's one world where the main of the enemies are spiders.

Edit: When my friend was overseas, he caught a camel spider... They wouldn't let him bring it back.

Ah camel spiders... They're so big you can practically see the life bar! Looks like a worthy opponent. Its gotta be loaded with experience points!

If you look closer, you'll find they are actually quite small, no larger than a tarantula.... ;)

Try searching for the spider on google, then you'll see, that picture is misleading because the spider is actually held very close to the camera, thus making it seem much larger... :D

Yeah, a good therapy movie that, it'll make you feel much better, or maybe not... ;)
