If it's emerald you're quite lucky, but there and many many kinds of rocks and minerals, most of which relatively worthless in monetary terms, and it's hard to figure out exactly what rock you have just by looking at comparison photos, not to mention where in the world they are formed, and a whole bunch of other details.. Like i said, if it's an emerald, you're extremely lucky!... |

Iridium isn't the rarest metal... Iridium is ten times more abundant than rhodium and ruthenium. And there's also rhenium... But IDK how much more abundant iridium is than rhenium. So if what you have is iridium, then you have a bit of the fourth rarest metal on earth. |

Interesting story. It might encourage the readers to go rare-metal hunting in their neighbourhood tomorrow. But if you got access to some high-level lab equipment you could perform some tests to confirm what matter(s) the object you found is made of. |

ununxium is the rarest, and you don't have that. |

Ununxium does not exist naturally, it is produced and before decaying to a more stable, lighter atom it will only exist for tiny fraction of a second. |

I'm thinking that you are unlikely to have found nuggets of iridium. Easy way to check would be to see if they are super dense (iridium practically ties with osmium as the densest element). I suppose they could be iridium ore though, but then again, its not the most common of element in the crust and any appreciable concentrations are likely to have a mine built over them. Shiny black rock to me says coal (anthracite or graphite), and failing that it could be slate or mudstone or even obsidian. As for a green stone (which I assume is see through), are you sure its not glass? Of course, if its cut into any sort of gemstone shape used for jewelry, the chances go up considerably. |
