Well, I've just got Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate Edition.

Got problems on it but now they're solved, half o' em I think.

What annoys me most and the mostest is, the goddamn 1680x1050 res problems. I have a Nvidia GTX 285 videocard, with the 197'd graphic update (Due to the new ones being total asses)

I had the new ones once, I tried many things;

1. Change/reroll graphic's card update
2. Update monitor driver
3. Update "monitor adapter" driver

And various much. No work, no nothing. So I saw this thread http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/652-6 ... ution-here

I tried it all, not working. Not even that PowerStrip worked at all and I followed it well like 5 times already.

Would be nice if anyone could help me. What's important is that I want 1680x1050 on games (especially UT2004)

You have to manually set it in UT2004's .ini files. That's what I did for both my 1400x900 PC screen and 1336x860 laptop screen.

Kind of funny that you never actually explain what the problem is. I assume you are unable to use/select the resolution? If it appears as the max res in the display settings then everything is working just fine, many games require that you set a widescreen resolution manually through config files and/or the console.

Kelly, that was attempted once. It changed it back to a lower one.

Attempted a million times to change Resolution or add a custom one in NVIDIA control panel. No work, says it doesn't support (A big finger to Nvidia for this)

This worked on Windows XP. Seems old engines were always friendly.

I think the bes tidea is to open your Nvidia control center ad see if you can change it to 1376 X 768 or anything close to that

Well I too am using Windows 7 with a modern graphics card and the latest drivers. You must be doing something wrong.

Try changing other .ini's or playing around with windowed mode because this isn't a driver or card issue.

"Windows 7" and "modern graphics card" are awfully weak and vague terms for supporting such accusations. Drivers behave differently based on OS (even its sub-brand or address resolution) as well as the exact brand of the GPU. A buggy driver can completely screw up display and graphics powered by HD 5750 while HD 5770 works just fine. This is no simple software.

Speaking for myself I'm running W7 Ultimate 64-bit with a ATi HD 5770 (Catalyst 10.9) and the native 1920x1080 is detected properly for my 21.5" monitor.

What is extremely strange is that I can't put 1680x1050, but I can put 1680x1051, just one number more.

(Not topical, but now Nvidia says this is the recommended screen for me)

Even if I can change it to 1680x1051, I can't on games. Any suggestions on games?

And Kelly, I already tried with .ini again and again and keep doing it. Other inis as well. No work at all.

Not much into monitors, but it seems big enough to support even 1920x

I've got the old driver, 192. The newer ones are crap, they are extremely unstable and NVIDIA didn't fix it yet.

I find that .ini files get overwritten too easily. I usually use the console - setres 1680x1050x32 would work for me seeing as it never usually shows up in the list.

Size is irrelevant. Checking out the specs of your monitor should be the first thing to do with problems like these, assuming you don't know them already.
