Why are you suggesting this, and to whom?

It has interesting features, and possible to coders who are interested in such features and also who posess such limited hardware videocard-wise like me. Its somewhat opensource also.

Why do you ask?

Because this looks like blatant advertising, and we do not allow it here.
I was wondering if you were making this recommendation to Runestorm, who do actively work on new projects (But they're not short on engines, don't worry.).

BTW they are working on UDK which is sufficient I think

I know they work on Projects and that they use UDK. I am not making this recommendaton to Runestorm. Please, don't assume too much.

Anyway, delete it if you will.

For who you are suggesting this then ? I don't criticize your post, but I personally wasn't aware of the existence of this one.
I mean I know engines like the cube engine, id tech 2(which is free to use), unity engine (since I'm curious about the interstellar marines project), the engine they use for phosphor (browser FPS) since it has a render close to the UE1.

iD Tech 3 is also free, and iD Tech 4 will probably join the club this year or the next.

I suggest it for people who have interesets in some features it has, like infinite terrain, multi threading. Mainly for those who have an old video card (it supports OpenGl2.0).

Yeah Id tech 3 is free, I think there is open arena, and some other free FPS who use it, but I didn't knew about id tech 4 for becoming free, btw after finding some info about it it will become free when rage will be out. I don't know why Epic doesn't do that for older engines such as UE 1 and 2 ... mostly the UE 1 because epic doesn't support it anymore ...
as for a non 3D engine (so 2.5 D the build engine is also free now) and the community developed amazing things with it

iD Tech 4's destiny was inevitable, all of their past engines became open source, why would this one be any different? The only reasonable doubt is that the company that bought iD Soft stands in the way, but would anyone have the balls to stand in the way of John Carmack and iD?

I doubt Zenimax would stop iD's plans. Zenimax isn't really planning on actually interfering with the way iD works (though you know that's no guarantee on anything) and Bethesda games as a whole are rather supportive of modding communities.

Bethesda are definitely one of the better ones, since they both make and publish games, they know their publishing side should keep it's nose out of the development side, much like Blizzard... :)
