Because I am strongly considering blowing my entire first (and/or second) paycheck on this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coby-MID7015- ... u=15572057 Anyone know about tablets? I've done a lot of searching on this model and it seems to have consistently good reviews while at an awesome price (buying from Wal-Mart I can use my mom's 10% employee discount card to boot). Does anyone have any suggestions? I really like the price, and the positive reviews seem encouraging. I plan to use this as an eBook reader, internet browser, IMing device, and maybe some light casual gaming. |

Oh... No flash support? Like, the thing that flash games require...? Hmm.. did not notice that. That is something I was hoping for... A quick search seems to suggest I can install flash support though, so that's good. And I didn't notice that there's no camera, that kinda stinks, but no big deal, I got a pretty awesome digital camera for that anyways. Would've been a nice tidbit though. Oh well. It seems like it doesn't use the Google Apps store, but its own brand's inferior version. Sucky, but I guess it can be "rooted" to give me full access to everything, including the google apps store, so there's that as well. Still for its price, I think it'll at least make a good starter tablet, see if this whole tablet craze has any substance to it, which I think does. Plus it costs almost a third of the price of my $300 net book and I suspect I may be using it a lot more (and I am almost always on my net book Probably gonna buy it next week, since I started work on wednesday last week, it'll be a pretty small paycheck, dunno if that + the money I got on hand be enough to cover the price. Dang. Don't wanna wait. |

Yeah, I know, those things get expensive. Its crazy! But yes, I will tell you if my tablet thingy (what is the proper name for those things?) is a useful piece of tech or just an expensive toy. I am still wondering this myself. And doing some quick estimate number crunches, I may just be able to afford the tablet tomorrow when I get my pay check. But it will be close. Really really close. I know there are tablet thingies that you can get a cell phone contract to so you got internet wherever you got 3G/4G coverage, but honestly, I just want a simple, cheap device that can use wi-fi internets. I don't need internet everywhere, and I sure as hell don't want to pay monthly/yearly for it. I will probably drop money fast on cheap apps though. I can't wait to get it! EDIT: Found this for $30 more: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coby-MID7024- ... u=16419488 It is a newer model of it with a front facing camera and better flash support. I think I will probably get that instead. Maybe. Might have to wait a week to get though. |
