I'm gonna buy and install computer components (which I don't know much about) for the first time and I ask here for your advice. My main goal is to get a new CPU but my mother board is old so I have to get a new one of that too, and new memory sticks. I think it's gonna buy a more silent PSU as well. New harddrive I think too since I tend to run out of space. Here is a list of the components I have been thinking of. I'm buying from a swedish site so don't mind the swedish text, the specifications are mostly written in english. CPU, main focus. I red that it would give 270% better performance than my current one at 3d max rendering. 3d work is my main goal. Intel Core i7-2600K 3,4GHz / 8MB / Socket 1155 http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/12747 ... ocket_1155 Motherboard, lots of specifications ASUS P8P67 LE B3 - ATX / Intel P67 / DDR3 / 2xPCI-E / SATA 3.0 / USB 3.0 / Firewire / Socket 1155 http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/12682 ... 0-firewire Memory stick Corsair 4096MB DDR3 PC10600 1333MHz http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/12726 ... 00_1333mhz -or- 3 of these Kingston 2GB DDR3 PC3-10600 1333MHz ECC (KTD-PE313E/2G) http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/12255 ... 333mhz_ecc http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/85714 ... e_KTD.aspx english site PSU, I would like someone to tell how much is needed. Btw the fan in my current one is kinda broken, it makes loud noise, more reason to replace it. OCZ PowerSupply (PSU) ModXStream 600W http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/91909 ... tream_600w http://tech-reviews.co.uk/reviews/ocz-m ... -600-watt/ english link, note that it says configurable to 500w-700w. -or- AXP PowerSupply (PSU) 750W http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/95815 ... upply_750w Harddrive Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 1TB (7200RPM / 32MB Cache / SATA II / NCQ) http://www.webhallen.com/hardvara/11417 ... 1000.c_1tb http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822145304 other site in english Total price is $770+. I hope someone is interested in advicing me yay. ![]() Edit: Some changes done after people's advices. |

That Processor is more than enough IMO.... I still use a older dual core one and I have no problem with my speed, so that thing should be a powerhouse. Go for it, if it has a return policy then I see no risk in trying these out. |

CMGuy wrote: That Processor is more than enough IMO.... Not really, Rendering is a bitch, escpecially with the newer max. Your DDR3 Ram should be either 3GB, 6GB, 9GB, 12Gb...... DDR3 Needs to be used in 3's for the best preformance. You might need a bigger PSU depending on your GPU. |

TurdDrive is right about the memory, and since you're doing 3D modelling you really should pick a bigger number than 4, like 6. |
