Hello my name is DC and I'm an alc... Oh shit, not again! Uh, yes, that's right, this is about games. Until I get round to setting up a personal blog (or just using the RS one), I figured I'd just post this stuff before I let myself get lazy and forget it. Warning: This tirade may contain content unsuitable for children, the eldererly, the religious and the wimpy. Besides developing and shit, I also play games and figured I'd share my radical extremist views with you along with some interesting finds. Don't worry, its not like you're gonna be coaxed into joining a doomsday blood drinking suicide cult or anything yet. Here's a crazy thing I found the other day: Attachment: Screenshot_Doom_20111026_230704.jpg It's a combination of Doom mods: ZGDoom Engine + BrutalDoom + ZPack. If you like Doom (and you better), then you will want this. Here's a video. It speaks for itself (which is handy cause I'm too lazy to explain all that). BrutalDoom + ZPack Video (No I didn't post it) I just saw about a minute or two and decided to try it out. If you don't like Doom, it's not too late to repent. Parts of it are a somewhat "moddery", but all in all its good wholesomepsychotic fun. Here's how you can get it all working: First, you need the Doom2 WAD file (it comes with the game). Then you need to get the GZDoom engine here or maybe this link. Next up, you'll need BrutalDoom. BrutalDoom makes Doom 1 and 2 more interesting and should work with other WADs too. If you want a real challenge, the ZPack contains 3 new episodes and even includes new monsters. Once you got those, install GZDoom. You can get it working by editing the .ini file to point to whereever your WAD file(s) are or you can copy them into the same folder as the engine. Extract BrutalDoom's files to the GZDoom folder and do the same with the ZPack files. Finally, create a shortcut to gzdoom.exe and add this to the command line (Target): "BrutalGZDoom_ V012.pk3" zpack.pk3 Mine looks like this: D:\Games\OldGames\GZDoom\gzdoom.exe "BrutalGZDoom_ V012.pk3" zpack.pk3 There, that should do it. Have fun! I'll bring on another sermon sooner or later.

I'll have to give it a go as well. I think my dad has a copy of D2 around... (I'd be surprised if he doesn't tho). |

Pastor DC, I must confess that I never invited Doom 2 into my life. Forgive me for I have sinned I watched the video and dang if it didn't bring me back to my Duke3D and Heretic days, I wish I had the chance the play Doom back then as well. I watched the whole entire video and LOL'ed every time the player pulled the finger and told demons to go F themselves. Brilliant Was that feature in Doom 2? Or did BrutalDoom add that? |
