It indeed has been awhile since iv posted on here, this is thetrunkmonkey btw, for some reason i made to accounts on here awhile ago and i cant remember why. I have been quite busy tho with work and college. I'm taking a associates degree in welding technology and its going pretty well so far, first semester is almost over. i personally think its a good idea to learn a trade to because if its really not what i want to do for a living its always something to go back to. in other news i managed to preorder and pick up my own copy of Deus Ex:Human Revolution when it came out and i am quite satisfied with the title. i think so far it has a strong story, and great gameplay mechanics, plus the takedowns are quite satisfying. i also picked up MachineHead's new album a few days ago and i must say iv never really been much of a fan of their material till i heard their new stuff and I'm pretty impressed so far. Maybe il look into some of their older material. In other news i don't know if i mentioned it in older posts, but i got a better vehicle over the summer. I'm now driving a 2001 Chevy Impala 91C police interceptor. its dark blue and it still has the spotlight on it and it works, and i tell you what that car is tons of fun to drive and it really messes with people. i sure do get a lot of looks on the freeway lol. and even tho it only has a 3800 series 6 cylinder engine in it the car is pretty fast and has decent acceleration, and great handling and cornering abilities as well. well that's pretty much whats been going on in the past year. i do apologize for my inactivity but like i said, iv had other stuff to worry about. Btw if you guys ask i can post pictures of the car. its pretty nice and for an older car, it has no rust spots on the body. |

If you want your old profile back then you can send me a PM and I'll arrange that. And SX, SS3 is good graphics and gameplay-wise, but the person responsible for the game's sound effects was probably deaf. |

Yeah. *nod* And I can care less about the story, but who cares about the story in a Serious Sam game? |

SX wrote: And I can care less about the story, but who cares about the story in a Serious Sam game? Serious Sam has a story?? More like a procession of un-related events and separate story-ish based descriptions... |

I think most serious sam players doesn't care about it. It's just like duke nukem, it's all about blowing up baddies and having some fun lines after a good and tasty frag. |

I don't care for the character of Sam much, just the mowing down of hordes of bizarre creatures in vast open spaces |

For me it's that and also interactivity and creative levels. |

By interactivity, do you mean pick up object, move to new location to solve puzzle? or, push button for more stuff to kill? Causes thats about it for sam! XD Doesn't stop it being a real blast though, for me, its all about saints row 3! Top on the list of christmas! |

It feels like blasphemy saying this... but I'm not terribly impressed by Serious Sam 3 so far... At this point, I've been in a war torn desert city... with lots of shades of grey and brown. Instant melee kills feel cheap without some sort of limiting factor to them (other than leaving you vulnerable, but that's not really an issue when you are just taking out enemies in small quantities), cover is way too important in this game due to the hitscan monsters (that are hard to see in dark areas) that do not advance forward to you, ranged enemies in general feel so dated just standing there playing one shoot anim, the need for reload means you are almost never on the advance in any decently sized battle, smoke/dust effects from bullet impacts prevent you from seeing what you are shooting at, and the blood... looks... so... bad. If they went with a more cartoony style with colors other than gray and tan, I don't think the blood would look so bad. But that is not the case. I'm still only very early in, I am hoping these problems will be less apparent as I go. But so far, I'm beginning to not like this a whole lot. I'm confident someone like me will make a small mod that fixes some of these problems. Also, whats the deal with those trophies you have after a melee kill? Other than further breakign the flow of things, can you do anything with them? |

(Re-)Howdy. You drive a police car. Crazy bastard! Does it still have the colors? Whatever you do, don't look to closely inside it, I mean, I can't imagine how may gallons of blood and so on have probably gone through that upholstery... |

I'm in level 3 now and the game is quickly getting better and better. I got the love of my life, coach gun, from a secret in level 2. Made that mini-boss fight at the end of the level so much easier. I agree 100% on the smoke and soldiers, these are simply misplaced in a Serious Sam game. Both annoy me to no end whenever they show up. And now we get punished for wanting to explore a level and find secrets, since time bonus turns negative when it passes the par. I normally stay around in one level for more than 1 gameplay hour, and they expect me to finish them in 10-15 minutes? Just outrageous. Melee doesn't feel cheap to me. I suppose it is mainly meant as your primary weapon while you grab the guns one by one. You won't be hugging a Khnum or a red biomech and live to tell about it. Plus it will quickly become impractical when the enemy numbers grow as you progress through the game. By the way, did you play around with the colour settings? They are pretty flexible and I do think vivid looks pretty, well, vivid. |

I'm pretty early on still, being chased by that dang helicopter thing... not having fun. I figure the melee will change in usefulness soon, but right now it makes the big bugs and the kleer a joke. Seems fine for the little bugs and I love kicking headless dudes to the ground. Mainly I'd just like to see changes in implementation of the melee kills. Perhaps some sort of meter that fills up as you kill/deal out damage and allows you to melee kill enemies, perhaps with a bonus of extra health or invulnerability during the kill to offset the new requirements. I didn't see the color options yet, maybe that will make the blood look a lot better with everything. Also what is with the insanely low FOV that's default? And why isn't there an option to change it in the menues? |

How do you perform melee on Kleers without getting hit by their jumps? Quote: I didn't see the color options yet, maybe that will make the blood look a lot better with everything. You can change it in the console though. I had thought such an option must be in the menu system, you sure you didn't just overlook it somewhere? |

Sidestep and press "E" at least for me. Those helicopters are evil. Melee may seem useful early on... later it's just outright useless, thanks to the biomechanoids and the new scrapjack enemies. |

Melee seems a bit too useful to me early on. I can only imagine its use dies off as it gets more intense, but this is why I think a Doom 3 Soul Cube style functionality to it would be great; it limits how often you can do it early on, and later on it gives you a quick boost of health when you really need it (I'm the next level after that helicopter and I still have never been able to keep my health above 60 for very long, at Medium). But yeah, the kleer are pretty easy to melee without getting hurt, you really don't need to sidestep, just back up and press E as soon as they jump. You got a pretty large window to do it. And since you told me about the color options, Bjossi, I am really starting to warm up to it a lot more now. Plus its starting to really get back to Serious Sam action too. Still, the abundance of hit scan enemies really forces you into cover much more than one would expect for a game with the tagline "No cover. All man." And this has some of the worst design choices in weapon sound than any other game I've played in a good while. They're too quiet, and the coach gun reload is really really weird sounding. Does not sound like a coach gun reloading. That gun is damn awesome though. Has anyone found the point or reason yet to holding the severed heads/eyeballs after melee kill yet? Also, is it just me or is there a real Doom vibe to many of the enemies in this game? |

Hey guys. I found out my old account password DarkCarnivour wrote: (Re-)Howdy. You drive a police car. Crazy bastard! Does it still have the colors? Whatever you do, don't look to closely inside it, I mean, I can't imagine how may gallons of blood and so on have probably gone through that upholstery... The police car has a dark blue paint job, so it looks like an undercover. People freak out when i make a u turn and tail them, its pretty amusing at times. Besides the the reason i got a ex cop car is that they are very reliable vehicles. cops might beat on them a Little, but they maintain their vehicles very well and they last long after they are retired. It has a real nice smooth ride to it and drives real nice, plus its a Chevy impala and it has greater cornering abilities than the crown Victoria, if you don't count the fact that the impala interceptors have 3800L v6 engines and the crown vics have 4.7L V8's. But surprisingly the acceleration is great for a 6 cylinder And i got the entire maintenance record on it, and so far its been in no accidents and neither have I. |

If you don't know what to do with them, just ignore them and don't pick them up. They are for someone else...P.S. They're there for eating! I mean come on, were ou born yesterday?!?! |

As far as I can tell they are never "picked up", they always end up in your hand after a melee kill. |
