For some reason, the BW wiki is really screwed up.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Yeah, I'm having issues with it too...

It looks like the formatting has been ruined.

Firefox is, however, the most accessible browser out there, Chrome being by far the worst in that regard.

I suppose that is true, Chrome is rather lacking in that department... :)

Accessible in what way? Installing? Clicking on the icon?

Firefox seems painfully slow to me. I had to test out bits of the site when I was redesigning it and FF always took forever to refresh, open and such. It's still about 5,000,000 times better than IE however :D

I believe he means Accessibility, as in aids for adjusting colors and etc..

I think.. Correct me if I'm wrong, otherwise I don't see the advantage it has over Chrome...

That is correct. Accessibility as in accessibility for a disabled person.

Mozilla are trying too hard to mimic Chrome though. The default interface, and the version number race. It took Firefox 6-7 years to go from 1.0 to 4.0 but a few months to go from 4.0 to 9.0.1. What the hell, Mozilla?

Of course Firefox is trying to mimic Chrome. Chrome is rapidly gaining popularity with its proven speed advantages and superior handling of CSS and JS.

Furthermore the Google teams are faster and much better funded than the Mozilla teams, they are having no trouble accumulating the benifits of Firefox into Chrome without having any of the drawbacks. The Mozilla team are really being given a run for their money here. The frequent updates are a sign that they are trying desperately hard to keep up with Google. I admire their ambition

Now as for our situation on the BW wiki. I have taken a look at it across my different browsers

In IE9: It looks just fine

In Chrome/Safari: the side menu is offset by 40 pixel to the top margin, causing it to bleed over the top of the title. This is caused by the sidebar being positioned absolutely. That means it respects only an X Y coordinate, not the position of nearby content. But here is the thing: Only IE is interpreting this coordinate correctly, not the other browsers

In Opera: Same as Chrome

In Firefox: the margin to the left of the content area fails, causing all text to fall behind the sidebar. This is caused by a CSS conflict.

My diagnosis: The wiki was poorly constructed

The Wiki was coded by someone who only tested it in IE9 and never bothered to check other browsers. It is not Firefoxes fault that whoever built the site left in CSS styles with conflicting names that browsers will set different priorities to, nor is it Chromes fault that the page structure is not semantic.

I can fix it for you guys if I have access to the source code.

@ Yoke. Cyberax was responsible for the Wiki. There are changes I still want to make to the site in general, and I'm not sure a Wiki is needed. It's also sucking up limited databases.

Can anyone tell me if perhaps we can 'move' the content over to a site like www.wikia.com? Is this a good idea or not?

If it wont cost you anything, then yes that is a good idea.

Also are you saying Cyberax actually coded the wiki? Or he just organised the data?

I expect the wiki's code came from a template engine rather than something made from scratch. If it is the latter, I meant no offense

Post subject:  Re: BW wiki....?

I have no idea how Cyber did the wiki :P It was almost certainly a template from somewhere. He always hated themes and styling, so perhaps things got a bit slack there :)
