Games come in many forms, colors, and textures, each have their own look(More or less).. But some games stand out, having a wholly unique art style to them, while others might look almost exactly the same as another game... In your opinion what is the best art style of a any game you have played, or seen?.. And do you think Art Style has a big impact on your choice of games?. When I say art style I mean: The choice of color tones, the physical appearance of the world and characters, and basically anything visual that sets the feel of the game.. Personally the most unique Art Style I have seen would be Mirror's Edge.. But the best I've seen, that's a tough one, I don't know straight away... |

Mirror's Edge is a damn good one. And a damn good game to boot. But I think Team Fortress 2 takes the cake. Then entire game, everything about it just oozes with its own flavor of style and character. Hard to beat it I think. |

I immediatly thought of Mirror's Edge too. A good example of an over-used style is the grey-brown concrete/metal corridors filled with dust and debris. |

Oh my! I can tell you a very good example on art style in one game: - Prince of Persia 2008 ( Elika )This describes how an autentic "cell shading" art is mixed with an amazing game! I love when Elika heals a ground. She convert a grey and dark ground into a beautiful landscape. |

Ah yes, that did have some pretty nice art in it, and the whole style was pretty cool... Quite a strange game though...

Hmm Borderlands was neat. Lacked some environmental diversity though. Mirrors Edge was also pretty cool. I'm not sure if it counts, but Quake 1 was something Theme and art-style are separate entities though, aren't they? |

ShadowBlade wrote: Theme and art-style are separate entities though, aren't they? Hmmm, I'd say an Art Style is part of the Theme, so its kinda separate... Another interesting one I think is World of Warcraft(Granted the art of certain characters leave a lot to be desired), it has a simple art style, but its always colorful. With the Outlands and Northrend, the art there is pretty neat, but I wouldn't really call that an art style per se.. |
