Helloooo! I've been working on music production for a while, as some of you might know, and I figured i'd get some feedback on it. Songs listed here: 'Reactor' on SoundCloud WIP (fairly complete) 'Solaris' on SoundCloud WIP (fairly complete) 'The Source(WIP)' on SoundCloud WIP (very early) Of note; It's electronica / techno / trance type stuff, so go in with an open mind! PS: I may update this thread asking for feedback, and I'll probably add more tracks as I get closer to an albums worth PPS: Please don't distribute it too far and wide kind sirs! |

I don't have much negative things to say, the only thing I feel is that the whole track is quite heterogeneous it seems that there is 3 parts of somewhat different tracks mixed in one. I'm not music expert though. |

Hmm, I do tend to do that a bit. Call it my trademark if you like Also, you don't need to be an expert to tell me if something seems off |

Just gave this a listen. Sounds good! Not my preferred genre of music for general listening, but makes a hell of a good background music when gaming. I'm never really good with critiquing sound effects and music, but I do like what I hear. |

I like it. I'm a near exclusive listener of Trance Techno and D&B so this sort of stuff is up my alley. I second what Xavious is saying that for an action scene in a game, it would work pretty well. It is fast, intense and energetic. For general listening it doesn't work so well but you can make it longer (6-7 mins) and add more euphoria and atmosphere to it. I like that you didn't try to go as hard and heavy as possible, some of the techno I have really overdoes that and creates a beat that really hammers the ear. If you make any Trance, Techno Rock or Neurofunk in the future I'll be paying close attention. |

Thanks Yoke! That's the kinda feedback I need It's a "trial" length at the moment, and will get longer as I get the mix right. Well, back to the studio then |

From 0.50 to 200 seems a little repetitious. other than that sounds good. |

I'm a head banger from way back, so it might not be my place to comment on this, this might be the way its supposed to be? But I listened to it and it has some realy good parts, and thay, dont know the terminology, but note to note to note/ flow? it realy works well, but other parts seem to drag on. Sorry I cant be more clear. |

ShadowBlade wrote: This is one of the very best I have heard from you yet, the main hook is a killer. I think it would be even better if you extended the build-up from the start to the first real chorus. Also defining the choruses and verses a bit more clearly would be nice. What a powerful track like this needs in addition is a sharp jump from a quieter verse into a strong chorus bit somewhere near the transition point where the track starts declining towards the end. Though I wish you would experiment a bit more with different samples and sounds, you seem to stick to the same ones a lot. This is pretty much the exact same style and sound to the tracks you released years ago. |

@Worlock: I know more or less what you mean @Bjossi: Thanks!! It is WiP, so I do intend to extend the verse and buildup, etc. It's like a trial mix basically Different samples and sounds you say? Not 100% sure what you mean; is it just that it sounds similar in style? I do still have my preferences as to what I think sounds good; there are plenty of elements in modern music I dislike. But yeah, I'm still learning; I've only started taking this seriously recently. Excited to see where I get in a few months/year Also, any examples of others' tracks you guys can give would be massively useful |

There is so much fun a talented guy like you can have with samples and sounds. A sample is a sound clip captured from reality and mixed into a piece of music, for example the sound of fireworks exploding, radio chatter, helicopter, racing car driving by, etc. Then you can do anything you want to these samples before adding them into the final mix, you can apply all sorts of effects to them; slowdowns, pitch changes, echo, etc. While they are not in the same style, you might be interested in checking out Yello, they are very good at sampling and their music is constructed from a huge and diverse library of samples. |

I am certainly being more serious than you with that non-constructive remark. What is it you don't understand? Such samples were very frequently used in 80's and early 90's music and are still used to some degree today, for me personally these sound effects have a positive effect on the overall sound if they fit well within the music itself. The racecar that starts Yello's The Race never gets old for me. |

| Post subject: | Re: My cacophonous sonic assault! |
I was confused by the context of what you meant by sample. A sample in music terms, as I'm aware, simply means any stored sound. It could be a recording of real everyday sounds(which is what you mean as far as I can tell), or instruments, rendered out synths, a kick-drum, anything. So when you said sample, I was thinking the kicks, maybe the percussion, even the instruments You mean then that the sound effects used in my current tracks are similar to the ones of old? Can you cite any in particular between my current ones and some of the old ones. It'd be useful to know the specifics |

Bjossi wrote: I am certainly being more serious than you with that non-constructive remark. Sorry, I just couldn't resist. A 'sample' is something with which any sound producer of more than half and hours experience will be quite familiar and is also quite a broad term. I guess you must be referring specifically to the non-musical, effect samples here though, right? |

Nobody can see what you know and what you don't know, not even I and you know how awesome I am. And yes, I do mean sampled sound effects. A sample can also be a single unit of data in an audio stream, usually 16 bits wide, where each bit represents around 6 dB of dynamic range, but you already knew that too I assume. |

I'm sure you're a fine upstanding sort of chap!A lot of people have said negative things about me, "caveman" this and "unhygienic" they'll say, but I know I'm awesome! I'm a kind of humble yet powerful person who emanates an aura of quiet wisdom yet at the same time is determined and forceful, a champion for the downtrodden and righteous. One doesn't like to use the expression 'god figure' lightly, but I think it would be a fitting description if I weren't so humble! -Disclaimer: The above is a total load of crap!
