| Post subject: | Ballistic Weapons Mutator with all weapons? |
After playing with BW a long time I decided to use enhanced weapons, ut3 weapons and other non-bw mods because BW always crashes the game after about 15 minutes which makes finishing a whole onslaught game almost impossible. I'm using swap tool right now but I want to use more than only 15 weapons. Loadout COULD work but I prefer playing it the classic way with weapon pickups. So I wanted to try the default BW weapons mutator who spawns the weapons randomly. But it doesn't work with non-bw weapons... is there a way to change it? I'm not a coder so I can't edit anything... Or is there another mod that works similarly? |

I think you can use the itemizer to accomplish what you want. Luckily for me, my game won't crash midgame, though using the reloaded command or going to the player selection screen definitely will. |

Yup, Reloaded gives me all weapons but when I try to switch it crashes immediately. Shall I post my error screen? Maybe it helps... |

Oh god, I believe this crash is the horrible, impossible "too many guns" crash. UT just wasn't built to handle 100+ weapons. |

you would think that after the success of The first games and there mods, they would have made/found a way to make it handle all that. |

UT2004 is by default 32-bit and given its age I highly doubt it is a LAA application, hence I would expect it does all the memory allocation itself. With 32-bit enumerable data types you can only enumerate up to 4 GBs worth of memory address references, that would explain why you have that 4 GB limitation. That error is misleading and is more likely caused by an arbitrary limit in the engine's memory allocation code or you are hitting some limit the OS sets as well as UT2004 (32-bit Windows is well known for its 2 GB limit for any given application.). There is supposedly a 64-bit version of UT2004, that would be worth a shot assuming your system is fully 64-bit ready but you are on your own there as I have no clue if you need to buy that specifically or if there is some free patch. |

I believe there are two unofficial patches out there. One for better 64-bit performance, and one for enhanced surround sound functionality. I tried both and had mediocre success. They both had quite a few issues, so I personally am sticking to vanilla UT. |

The 64 patch would not launch ut2004 on my win7 rig =/ I doubt i'm missing out though. |
