This is a very touching speech on vegan-ism, from a vegans point of view. its graphic at parts, and is a little over an hour long.
I my self could not make it threw the whole due to its intense graphic content, but most of the video is the guy talking which I got thru.
Point and story, lot of good stuff init to hear and add to your knowledge.

GEMA not letting me view it for inclusion of music from SME... :evil:

My personal opinion on that topic is that eating meat was one of the key factors that allowed the humans to increase their brainsize and develop creative thinking.
And think of it - all animals that eat meat are on average more intelligent than those which only eat plants. And if you forbid humans to eat meat, you'd also have to forbid animals to eat meat...
And on top of all - why do animals have more right of living than plants? I tell you why: Because plants don't squeak when you twist their necks!

Watched about 20 mins and got bored. Yeah, he raised some good points but at the end of the day, we have canine teeth for a reason! Would the situation be different if we weren't at the top of the food chain due to our technology and intelligence? Yeah, it would. And besides, me not eating meat is NOT going to stop the animals from being killed and i have more important things to worry about.

Interesting, yet boring at the same time.

A human becoming a vegetarian is a wholly unnatural act, and I don't care what their motives are, its abhorrent for an omnivore to completely stop eating meat. Animals that are killed for food were born for food. They wouldn't even have been born if it wasn't for us. Sure, there are a lot of cruel and unnecessary things that are done to them, it should be better, I won't disagree. But not eating is at most going to accomplish them dying for nothing.

Also, due to crap internet I did not, could not watch the video. I am just on my soap box protesting vegetarianism.

@Xavious... I agree completely... :handgestures-thumbupright:

People forget that human beings are naturally animals too, you don't feed an animal what it doesn't eat, you feed an animal everything it's diet requires. Humans need a much more varied diet than other animals, meat is a vital part of that... :)

As far as I can tell:
-It's natural and healthy to eat meat (in moderation like any food). Humans are supposed to eat meat.

-Meat production is cruel, expensive, destructive and unsustainable. We're not supposed to use up so many resources to produce meat.

This situation is a problem, one which our species will either solve or will suffer for in the long run.
It is not so easy to pick a right side, because it's all a dark gray color.

One thing that really disgusts me is the amount of meat (and food in general) that is wasted. I think everyone could go a long way to helping the situation by not wasting food and not consuming more than they really need. Wasting food is a crime and the punishment is visited on the next generation.

I agree with DC.
Food waste is the bigger crime than harming animals. But, intensive livestock farming (which is sometimes not ideal for beef cattle) is needed because if all foods would be grown in organic farming, one could not keep all the people alive because the sheer amount of surface would not be enough.

And supermarkets for instance throw away all foods that have passed the best-before date. Although most of it is not off, and could be given to the poor or used otherwise.

But I digress... ::)

If food waste would be lowered, one could lower the amount of meat produced and less animals would get treated bad unnecessarily.

DC Hit it on the head.

Organically grown food usually involves animal bi products,
Look at, "Custom Blend Fertilizer" at bottom.
http://www.trueorganicproducts.net/products.htm
They wont every stop the killing of animals, animal bi products are used in virtually everything we use, from cars, plastics, electronics, medication even food processing.

FYI
Cars produce 14% of o-zone depleting gases, live stock produce 18%.

PS
Organically grown food isent all that good for you, its very high in trace minerals like sodium copper and many other. If you have a hart condition like my wife you'll need to stay away from it.

Right on. I worked a summer job at a food processing plant. You could tell just by looking if it was organic or not; the organic cherries was absolute shit, being rotten, shriveled up, bug eaten... There is a reason chemicals and stuff is applied to crops; it actually makes them better. To say organic is strictly superior is pretty much a slap in the face of science.

Damn straight, people need to be more conscientious and think about their actions when it comes to wasting food, don't throw it in the damn trash, feed it to a dog or something if you can't eat it all and it hasn't expired. And don't buy more than you're going to use if you're just going to leave it until it's expired. :(

People do this all the time and it's so not cool, it's like spitting on others who work hard to make ends meat and it pointlessly brings the end to some or more animals lives. :angry-cussing:

Doesn't matter what food you waste, be it animal, mineral, or vegetable. People are responsible for not being greedy, and greed has caused all things on earth to suffer, including ourselves. Less greed = Less need.
