I haven't given a cent for a (competitive) Multiplayer shooter since I found Ballistic Weapons way back in 2007
Which makes me kinda sad... you'd think mainstream games would have catched up by now

I wasn't sure where to post this, but I had to share my thoughts as I'm getting ready to go to bed (it's getting close to 5 AM in the morning in my area). Many apologies if this is in the wrong section. Ever since I first got UT2004 in late 2009/early 2010 I've only ever played it via LAN and against bots. Despite this experience I've had a blast with it and with the Ballistic Weapons mod it makes it even more fun. Early 2010 was when I first got into gaming online. I started with Combat Arms before moving onto MW2, MW, Half-Life/2 Deathmatch, some classic Doom online, Killing Floor, Nuclear Dawn, coming back to some of these games occasionally, Open Arena, Cube 2, Red Eclipse, and some others I'm probably forgetting. Having played lots of UT2004 by myself and having become disillusioned with some of the F2P games I used to play (to the point I've swore them off), I decided to give online play in UT2004 a try earlier tonight. Oh how I lament the time I spent on most of those other games. I had an absolute blast with UT2004 online. I didn't realize how active it still was, for one. There's plenty of servers around for all kinds of different game modes. Second, I have yet to encounter one rude/childish/immature person in any of the games I've played. Everyone was pretty mellow and was having a good time. Finally, the last server I played in had the Ballistic Weapons mod. If I thought I had a blast playing against bots with the mod, then my experience online was gaming Heaven. I haven't had this much fun in a very long time. I feel stupid for trying to search for an enjoyable online gaming experience when it's been on my PC all along in the form of UT2004. I had tons of fun and I certainly plan on playing more UT2004 online, regardless of the mods. Hope to catch some of you online and hopefully I'll post more on here instead of lurking like I have been. P: |

Well, with us crawling around, who knows what kind of AAA Multiplayer Shooter might be the next to make a concise impact on the genre..
