If you want real, go play America's Army. It is one of the best realism games that I've played. (Really haven't played RO... At ALL.) And I watched that episode too. Did they have the HK 416 in that episode, too? If they didn't, I'm thinkin' of a dif episode. It was amazing how it would take ALL of the force from the point-blank grenade. I guess I shouldn't have been all that surprised, I mean, that thing's made of overlapping steel disks.

1 question. Why are 7.62mm rounds more powerful than 9mm. IS larger size not always linked to power? Or am I reading this in a funny way.

I would like if recoil was reduced, however. Its really stupid that you have a huge machinegun and in 5 shots you can't aim within a 10 by 10 square. not reduced a lot, it would become too powerful, but somewhat, and only for the M-Guns and rifles.

As for the railgun idea, maybe the trail should be a little less obvious, and to balance it with the Sniper, the sniper should be semi-auto (no recocking in between shots) and have much less recoil. Think Halo Sniper, but with more ammo/ recoil.

It's also important to not how much fast the bullets are going. There's a much larger powder charge behind the 5.56 or 7.62mm rifle rounds rounds than the 9mm rounds in machine pistols and submachine guns.

And the M353 machine gun (the one with 100 rounds) is plenty overpowered as it is. It has about the same chaos and recoil as the m50, but a much larger magazine.

Making the sniper semi-auto would be disastrous, as the thing does over 100 damage per shot to the tosro. And the Railgun's trail should be even more obvious, being more powerful. The trail should stay visible much longer than it currently does.

As for the railgun, with all the railgun tests I've been around, there is no trail, just a *VERY* large sonic boom when fired.

1 thing: The sniper is pretty much semi-auto already, its not that you recock it in between shots, its just that there is a long delay, thats really what I meant (I imagined it as a recock, I guess). I guess that probably shouldn't be changed. I never realized it was that strong. Shyke, I have to agree with Kaboodles on this one though, cause if the trail was removed for realisms' sake then it would make the gun much better than it is already, which is very good... But kaboodles, the sniper needs some upgrade, to balance it with the railgun. But the recoil thing should be enough, justs a good decrease so you don't need to refind the target every shot... The recoil should only be like 1/2 of the railguns. It would take the target out of the crosshair, but not several frames out of the zoomed view, like it does now.


And with the M-Guns, I can't say how many times I have just opened fire directly at someone, who dodged, and then took me out with a pistol. I know there is some skill involved, but often this happens on people not moving till I fire... At least the first few shots should have slightly decreased recoil.

The only change I would make to the sniper rifle is to give it a larger clip and let it stabilize faster after moving.

To balance it with the Rail Gun, I changed the Rail Gun so that it's slightly more difficult to use. I decreased your movement speed further and had it only charge automatically to about 30% power. In my version you have to hold down the fire button to charge it up further and release the button to fire. Upon reaching maximum power you have only a few seconds to line up your shot before it fires automatically. I find it works much better, as it would do about the same damage as the sniper rifle uncharged.

I also decreased its clip size to 5.

As for the machine guns, how far away were you from your target? At close range, you should have no problem mowing the guy down unless there's something for him to hide behind.

And the key is not to just go full-auto, but to fire in bursts. You can even just click the fire button separately a bunch of times instead of holding it down, which can give you a good firing rate without having to worry about recoil. It's an odd quirk with the ballistic aiming system that I don't think should exist, but there it is.


EDIT: Semi-automatic means that you just pull the trigger to fire. You can pretty much fire as fast as you can pull the trigger. The sniper rifle is not semi-automatic, as you have to work the bolt between shots.

The reason I said the semi-auto thing orignially was a series of misunderstandings about how the sniper worked because of scope/noscope sniping that I had done with it, and general inexpierence with the weapon (I am awful with it, never scored a non-bot kill with it, so I usually just don't snipe unless I get a railgun). All I really want is increased firing rate.

I like your nerf of the railgun, cause it forces snipers to prepare shots. If RS implemented something like this, or you put this mod on the BW Mods forum to get, I seriously think it would help balance the weapons. Of course, I'm a terrible sniper, so I wont like the nerf so much, but it would keep me alive on many extra occasions. It is also good on ONS, where tanks are pretty much useless since a guy hundreds of feet away can take you out with a sniper before you know what hit you...

I give thumb up for the later one. Not sure about the above though. I only use the sniper becouse it's hard to do and no one else does it. :/ Not becouse it's effective.

Faster recoil recovery would be pointless really. By the time you're done working the bolt, it would already have recovered from the recoil .

Faster chaos recovery would be useful, as you'd be better able to stop moving and take a shot at a guy when you spot him.
