This is a heavy human plasma weapon with the drawback of overheating. The over heat works like the HVC.

Primary fire:
Fast moving big plasma blast. Dealing ~40 damage. Small splash radius. Slow RoF.

Secondary fire:
Constant, short ranged, sweeping blue-white plasma beam. Played Unreal II? Remeber the rail gun thing's sec fire. That's how this thing works. A beam that bends as you move the gun from side to side. The beam should also be burning with small blue flames. Deals heavy damage. Not sure how much per second though. This attack generates most heat of all attack modes, so don't use it too much.

Special:
Fast moving ball lightings. A small glowing core with short ranged lightnings periodicly emmiting lightnings which hurts anyone near the ball during it's flight. Deals 5 damage every 0.5 sec. A direct hit stops the ball and deals 10 damage. Slow RoF.

When reloaded, the leveler is pulled back and the whole gas/energy tank is removed but grabbing the grip and a new one is placed and then the leveler is pulled forward. Fairly slow reload time.

The small display shows information about the current temperature in th weapon in terms of color. The craving on the ammo box is a little display showing how much ammo there is left. Perhaps an ammo counter too. The carving on the side near the front glows light blue until the weapon is overheated, then it turns red-orange.


I'm not very sure about the numbers so they are all open for discussion.

Plasma seems more the Skrith style, and Lord knows we need more Skrith weapons. Perhaps make you can make this the Skrith heavy weapon (although you would have to dump your current model for a Skrithier one).

Also, the special behaves almost exactly like Quake II's BFG. You might want to rethink that, as it'll probably be seen as a rip-off of the weapon.

Nice idea never the less, but I have to agree that you should consider making it as a Skrith weapon, we need more of those badly.

Thats an awesome model, and the gun sounds pretty awesome too! Though I have to say, for some sort of BFG, that model doesn't seem to have enough bulk to it. I'm not really sure how to accurately describe what I mean.

Looks great though, but to me it kinda looks more like some sort of blaster rifle then a plasma cannon.

But I have to agree with Kaboodles, the special fire, awesome as it is, is kinda overused. Quake 2, Doom 3, several things made for UT2004, etc.

I love that idea, but I think it probably oughta be something different.

But this thing, it needs t be a human weapon. Screw the skrith , they already got 3 weapons, and I'm sure the devs have some more being whipped up anyways. This thing just screams Terran tech.

seems cool but iv seen a plasma rifle in every other first person shooter i play and dousnt that play like the link gun if you dont count the alt fire

'Countless' is stretching it to hell. Energy weapons are pretty common, but plasma weapons could use extra members into the family.

Yep. Very few "plasma" weapons in games truly feel like a plasma weapon, really... plasma is basically extremely hot fire, with a few other features. With most so called plasma guns, they launch a large ball of this super heated gas, but when it makes contact, it only does damage to that one point of contact. Realistically, something should happen with all that gas, right? It can't just harmlessly dissipate if it somehow managed to stay coherent in flight.

Because of this, there really are few plasma guns that truly feel believable. This one, its attacks aren't too particularly unique, but then again, Doom had shotguns, and shotguns rarely move away from that same functionality in games.

Just give it properties surprisingly unique to plasma weapons: believable physics.

Plasma, being basically a super-hot ionized gas, have extremely high energy, would just dissipate instantly. So the most realistic plasma weapon would probably be a kind of grenade, like the FP7.

That said, the most common technical explanation behind plasma balls is that they're big chunks of plasma held together magnetically or something like that. So when it hits something, I imagine the most likely results will be either:

A. The magnetic force holding it together breaks apart and the gases explode out with great force, burning the ♥♥♥♥♥ out of whatever it hit and anything around it, kinda like the Link Gun, only the projectiles explode. Or

B. The magnetic force holds together and the projectile burns straight through the target, like the A73 Skrith Rifle projectiles seem to do, or the Predator's shoulder-mounted plasma gun when it blasted a hole through Jesse Ventura's chest.

The ball lighting does at least not do very much damage like the BFG. :/

And yes we know about the plasma realism. It's like shooting hot gas.

What I'm getting at Kien is that if the projectiles behave more believably, it'd separate your gun from the run of the mill blaster found commonly in games.

Well yes my idea is the stereotype plasma rifle. Just that it isn't a fast shooting one like in Doom for example. :/

The ball lightning could be removed perhaps. I have an idea of another weapon in mind. This time a skrith one.
