I'm sure this is the caliber/millimeter reason, but the ak47 is less accurate and the m16 is more accurate although ak is more powerful.

Mainly the old rifles are innacurate, at least the old designs are, the biggest reason is because of the looser tolerances on the parts, which is what gives the Ak it reliability, but some countries like Finland, and Isreal have created version that are just as accurate as the m16, Isreal and Yugoslvia have sniper rifles built on the AK-47 action. Its not really the size of the ammo that makes it accurate its the qaulity of the ammo and the weapon being used, many of the accuracy test that have been done have been with worn out rifles using poor ammo from russia, china, and romania etc... No one has ever taken a brand new Ak-47 loaded up with ammo from Hornady, whinchester, or remington and gave it a fair test against the m16. Alot also depends on the shooter in question, in order for the gun to hit its target the person using it has to be able to use the weapon properly.

The M14 was brought back to fulfill a sniper or designated marksman role for long range shooting, where the 5.56x45mm doesn't do so well, but not as any sort of replacement to the M16 or M4.

High penetration power isn't necessarily a good thing, especially in urban warfare where there could be a lot of civilians you want to avoid hitting. And again, at close ranges, where most of the action takes place, the 5.56x45mm does just fine.

This isnt the first, and isnt the last time I will see people engaged in a fight over the 5.56 bullet.

As I see it, a bullet is a bullet. Some may be bigger than others, but they are still all bullets. If you shoot at someone with any bullet (no matter what type, or at what range) they will go down. They may not be dead, they may not even be hurt, you might even have missed by a barn door, but only an idiot would not throw themselves to the floor (or seek other cover).

Obviously if they are on the floor they probably arn't shooting back - and that (as I see it) is what counts.

The whole argument boils down to this:
small bullet - carry lots, low penatration = high volume of fire
big bullet - cary less, higher penatration = less available 'hard' cover

Big mouth for one that hasn't designed any gun in real life yet. Have you ever even fired one? I grew up amongst guns and i'm considered to know more about them than any average soldier.

Besides, it seems that you haven't even considered the fact that barrels and clips are exchangable on most of the firearms that excist today, nor have you thought of sabot casing. I can think tons of ways to make the AM67 work in real, the only thing i'm looking for now is how to make the results light enough for it to be carried and fired with a single arm.

I suggest you to research at least a rough 80 gun encyclopedia's, own at least 10 guns, and spend a rough 10 years with guns before even trying to put up such a tone against me son. Besides, you have failed to read the part where i state that i am designing something to look like the AM67. I never said i am trying to recreate the exact same thing.
