I imagined a really strong sniper.
It would so strong that would take you away some life points (like HAMR).
To prevent that you would have to put it on the floor (like HAMR).
It would be SO strong that would penetrate trough a bot!
The sniper could be camoflauged (covered with leaves or something like that).

So what do you think ?

Rail Gun leaves trail so your position ih easily revealed, while this shoots bullets and have camo (however the camo aspect must be worked out), so it is efficient if you know how and where to use it.

thats becaues the bot ai blows in ut04 there just a time filler for people who don't play online they did a much better job with the ai in ut99

Dunno about that. I doubt a powerful sniper rifle fires explosive shells of some sort.
What I like about extremely powerful weapons is the sound and carnage they cause. A sniper like this would be lovely for sending dead bots entire meters backwards. The noise could be a way to balance it out a bit, plus you'd run kinda slowly.

I still think this sounds like the railgun without the trail. An alternative is allowing the railgun to be deployed as a turret, where it charges up faster (maybe by unfolding some energy collector-thingies (or a wind turbine )).

Following this subject on several threads for a while, it seems that the Railgun has severely blocked development of all other sniper-like weaponry.

Not cool. I'd say the original Railgun needs change before thinking of other long range personnel shredding tools.
