I play BW in rather big maps, such as ONS maps. But smaller maps with close corridors I havent played BW that much. So I dont know much about how that plays.

using nades in small maps is fun.

bots in SP and human players in MP. Simple as that.

Personally, I don't have much problem with G5 users. I tend to be shooting their faces out while they try and get a lock on me.

UP, Kaboodles is not a whining player, but you on the other hand are by insulting him in a childish and silly way. He has every right to bash BW, we all have differing opinions, and thank god for that because BW wouldn't exist without it. He brings up perfectly valid points about BW's weakspots and all you can do is show off your fanboy side in a flaming way.

Anyways, although I have never encountered a homing missile from a G5, it sounds like it has waaay too smart AI.

It is heat-seeking right? Unless we are talking about a way more advanced heat-seeking, the rocket isn't supposed to be able to avoid obstacles; it will just fly towards the heat it was targetted at. In other words, it crashes into a wall if there is a wall between you two.

The scope for the G5 (use Iron sights) is pretty much a lock on dumb homing RPG. I have never seen it do fancy maneuvers to avoid obstacles, only time is when i'm the guy moving it in alt fire mode.

To be clear here. I have no intention of "bashing" BW. It is a great weapons mod with quite a few balance problems. That is all.

Really, if I didn't like BW I wouldn't be wasting my time here.

That said, it's not all that surprising that a request for an insta-kill G5 rocket would end in a balance discussion. It was pretty much inevitable.

If you try to put a tree or column between you and the rocket, it very easily swerves out away and corrects its flight vector (ie. pointing at you) within a split second. A locked-on G5 missile is practically impossible to avoid. You can only shoot it down.

A laser-guided one is kind of the opposite. You can sometimes avoid it if you're far away enough and dodge around a lot, but shooting it down is not feasible, though you can take shots at the guider (risky).

You know this is the future right? The rocket probably contains cruise missile technology that can detect collision courses and map a navigation route using 3D tri-point vector mapping.

Its remarkable agility is ludicrous, but on the other hand I find it rather impressive.

I hope we can can address that issue without having to get rid of this "feature".

Do you see where I am coming from? I think we can fix the G5 up without having to sacrafice the intelligence of these rockets. You will regret removing that intellegence next time you fire the rocket through a tiny gap.

You're forgetting that a locked-on rocket goes up first, then down, so you're SOL unless you've got a roof over your head. We've never really tested the G5's lock-on very much, but the damn thing is smart. IT WILL FIND YOU.

I'm pretty sure that it can't evade walls and stuff. Unless its been beefed up by a lot since 1.7

It does, I have seen it do some very sneaky moves. Granted it doesnt always happen, but keep your eyes open, you notice it go around small things like pipes and barrels.

I have mostly seen it "dodge" when it is locked into things. Never so much when using the laser guide or dumbfire.

well of course it won't dodge with dumbfire, that'd defeat the whole purpose.

We do, its something like 2150. But i see your point, we haven't a clue how technology has advanced. All we know is humanity perfected energy weapons (lasers... boo ya) and they went to the stars. Hell we don't even know if they have robot waiters or flying cars (like in Star Wars).

I think it'd be best to just go crazy with imagination. Just say it's the future and create it the way we imagine it will be/look like.

Couldn't be 2150. I imagine weapon technology and design aesthetics would have changed drastically in 150 years. Ballistic weapons look and feel very similar to the ones we have now

I think he's looking for the word energy/plasma/etc. weapons. They shoot "unusual" projectiles, like the skrith rifle for example.

Ah, but the Skrith guns aren't energy weapons perfected by humanity. Alien technology. About the only really "advanced" man-made weapons here are the Rail gun, HVC, and the G5's crazy maneuverability. The rest pretty much already exist in some form or other.

Because it takes place right near the beginning of the second Skrith War and because the Terrans learned that their energy weapons didn't work against the Skrith on account of their energy armor, they had to scrap using those energy weapons and grab any (important word ANY) weapon that fires a ballistic projectile or doesn't get absorbed by energy armor. So they seriously hadn't had time to have created new ballistic weapons since they just grabbed 'old' ballistic weapons just to stand a chance against the might of those sneaky Skrith.

Thats why they are insanely similar, because humanity must have gotten energy projectiles or whatever its called to work in less than half a century, so the weapons didn't change much, so once they were thrown away, no one bothered to create new ballistic weapons because no one ever thought they'd use them again. It's damn luck that they even had a ton of those Ballistic Weapons locked away for them to use when the Skrith came for another round of kill the humans!
