So anyways, over the past few days I started to draw some of my weapon ideas.

This here is a 30 cal. Multi-purpose rifle.
It would take several ammo types. The font may be too hard to read so I'll type it.

Steel tip - Inflicts heavy damage to player (70 health points per shot). Used against vehicles does very little (10 armor points)

Explosive - These are high explosive armor peircing rounds. Players inflicts the same amount of damage per shot as a steel tip round. Vehicles however will lose 100 armor points per shot.

Poison - This has no effect on vehicles but is deadly to players. When shot, a player will lose 30 health points over a period of time, while undergoing temperary vision & hearing loss.

Tracking - If shot, players don't lose any health or have any knowledge of being shot. He would be marked on allied radar, even his own team would not know he/she is bugged. Vehicles can also be marked. The tracking will stop if a player dies or gets out of a marked vehicle. The tracking will activate again if an enemy enters a marked vehicle.


Another idea I should mention is a 360 radar.

I have other sketches I'm working on. For instance, I have an idea for a land transport hovercraft that looks alot like the D-Day landing craft. I could carry 9 people including the driver.

Another is a Air transport that would look similar to the Killzone artwork like this.

Yeah it would be cool to have different ammo types for the shotguns, esp. slugs and knock-around rubber bullets / beanbags.

I'd don't think the BW team's gonna add another shotgun model, tho. They already have 3 different ones after all...

Different ammo types just makes things too complex I think, considering it is only possible to have one ammo type per weapon in a map as far as I know, even with scripting it can be close to impossible.

But very impressive sketches, maybe you can attempt a new energy weapon for the UTC?

Chaos UT has cycling ammo pickups. Not sure what their limitations are, mod-wise (maybe it would only work in Gametypes?), but it can be done...

Btw, the perfect multi-ammo shotgun would imo be the Saiga-12, see http://www.saiga-12.com/ Ammo types could be switched easily and realistically by swtiching the gun's box magazines, and it looks pretty cool to (like an AK). B) Ammo pickups could be distinguished by color coded stripes, like those on the XK and M50 mags.

Not a bad idea, and maybe make a custom type of gun that can use different calibers of ammo. Would be pretty cool.

Well their system only works cause i think all their maps are made from scratch with the multi-ammos already in it!

But you can run other maps too with ChaosUT2, but I´m unsure if multi-ammo is available in those.

as for the switching ammos, we are intending to have a gun in our next big release, the Canister Rifle, which can cycle different ammo typesB)

maybe we will upload some of our weapon sketches soon.. wot you think?

Sounds good. :)

But can´t it be scripted to make "intelligent auto-placing"?

That upon loading a map, the game will put extra ammo pickups for the other ammo types in intelligent places like corners or next to a wall, or other place that make sense.

why not just have a generic pickup of all the diff ammo types, box of assorted shells/cannisters/bullets whatever your going to use and have an alt function select the type.

ie. say you pick up a box of 10 shells, you can alt function to change the type but you only get a 10 shell total no matter which type you change to

That is already in Loadout. :)
But it is still tough to set more than 9 weapons, we'd maybe have to combine loadout gameplay with normal ballistic.

true enough, loudout is great because it feels better than picking up all the weapons and carrying an obviously unrealistic arsonal...i toss weapons i pick up most of the time. sounds like this mod is strarting to grow quite a bit and definately nearer to perfection...then again in my mind its already there

Maybe it would be fun to have a small option to allow each player to only carry 3 weapons? It would be fun to have that kind of realism.

and[/i] more fun. Should it be laser or neutral beam? I think a charged beam wouldn't work unless you combine it with a laser to bloom open a vacuum channel, so it would have to be even bigger and more powerful than the rail... It could go on the mech!

I heartily dislike those killzone dropships; they have infantry exposed on top, there are no seats and restraints so they can be bucked off, and it's a huge step to get off when you land. I would hate to have to use one, even in non-combat context! That stuff belongs in UT IMHO. Huge humanoid mecha are unrealistic for their own reasons, but I think they're cool enough to include anyway. B) If you scale it down to maybe a ton or two so the humanoid form makes it really nimble I would accept it as realistic since it would be more like power armor than a tank. The humanoid form isn't good for tanks, but it's great for urban, particularly indoor, combat.

That would be great with loadout! Maybe instead of just three weapons, let how many you can carry depend on how big they are? I read that in Perfect Dark Zero you get four slots and each weapon takes up one, two or three depending on how big it is.

That is a great system. B)
The game FEAR has 3 slots, not really based on the weight of the guns, but your running speed changes based on the size of the gun currently carried.
