this sounds stupid at first but possbly could a grav gun could be made
if so make it pick up corpses and have the players lanch them across the room
heres a pic

this would be a fun weapon to play with in Bw :p along with the slaughter mod

Heh not a bad idea until yolu realise that Half Life 2 started the whole da*m gravity gun thing, go ask someone on the epci fourms D, plus it just woundn't fit BW.

It would fit BW, but not the UTC or the Skrith.
But if it fits UT2004, I don't know.

well i know it wouldn't amazingly cause UT2k4 uses Karma instead of ragdoll life Half Life 2, so i dunno it could work but still it would be a overpowered weapon if you juts grab your enemies while their fighting and toss them.

. . .Tossing ragdolls would be pretty pointless, as karma is done clientside. Heck, ragdolls are even done clientside in the Source engine. Using corpsdes as weapon can't work. Also, there's not really enough hysics-enabled stuff you could throw around anyways. But if you REALLY want a gravgun, I think U4E has something similar you can use to pick people up and bash them around.

it isnt soposed to be a weapon in terms its a defensive item

This weapon couldn't be used much in that fashion either, since the only objects that have any physics at all are players and vehicles.

there is just no use for phys weapons in the unreal engine.
i maybe like that gun too but it is really of no use in the unreal engine, unless........

....... YOU DUMP A BIG NUMBER OF KARMA OBJECTS IN THE LEVELS, BUT THAT WOULD REALLY "........" UP THE PREFORMANCE!!!

Why are you using caps-lock...?
Anyways, it wouldn't really eat performance badly I think, but it'd still make an old computer crap on itself.

Wow, you must eat very little chocolate.

see i think our friend hear is thinking of Havoc physics, now that can eat CPU power on a old machine.

Kill 'em all and be done with it!

But yeah. Phys weapons = not for UE2. Better luck next time.

That's right, I think it's called the Industrial Antigravity Mover, or something similar. You can grab and throw enemies with it, but you can also use it for transportation. Most of the fancier U4E weapons are pretty buggy though, so don't be surprised if it crashes your game. x)

Could be, Havoc 2.0 needs 800 million clockcycles (around 800 Mhz P3) to run properly, then the game's requirements are added to that.
While karma barely needs 1/4 of that, a medium spec computer can handle thousands of karma objects at the same time, but that can be up to how optimized the rendering engine is.

That's one thing I never got about UT2004. They got pretty much full support for physics, but it isn't even used in the regular game (not counting ragdoll and vehicles). Why did they do that? It seems kind of pointless to me.

That Industrial Antigravity Mover works pretty good. It'd probably be exactly what you'd want, I think. Unfortunately, U4E doesn't work at all on my computer any more...

So he IS a dead anime character, he's just not e dead manga character. (yet)

what do you mean "yet"
the manga is totally different from the anime.
see it your self! ~:(

What the hell are you guys talking about? !dodge

But I think it is possible to make karma work in multiplayer, but it would reduce performance for slower connections (and slow PCs)

Well, no. I'll just stick to Last Exile, Naruto and Gundam, thank you. Maybe, someday, I'll go and watch Full Metal Alchemist, but not soon. And I'd rather die than read black-and-white manga's.

I'm almost certain you can get it working in multiplayer. Although I only played Killing Floor 2.0 off line, karma is kind of a big part of it. I doubt it would be even be added to the game otherwise, considering it was designed for online play.

ok.. ON-TOPIC!!

karma can get very slow in certain situations.. we tryed making some karma crates, and they work pretty well, until u cram them all into a small space..

can be fixed by a good coder, like DC tho :)

we wanted to make some level objects with karma, but we'll see :)

Author:  Captain Xavious [ Fri Sep 08, 2006 4:36 am ]
Post subject:  grav gun for BW?

Thats good. It seems like such a waste of a perfectly good physiscs engine otherwise.

Crates are always fun.

Karma ain't a good physics engine, but better than nothing. :)

I'd love crates around maps that you can use to shield yourself in case a mad dude with a minigun spins the barrels at your direction. :P
