I don't know wether it already has been suggested but with al that talking about more ammo types .
How come that there is only one type of ammo .

I was thinking of a change in payload of the rocket ( rocket stays the same model )

payloads are :
NAPALM the same as the napalm grenade only it can be deliverd over a longer distance and a slightly greater explosive range ( it creates a fireball in the air after some time A.K.A. the old napalm bombs used in war ) If it impacts than there's a large firy explosion.

EMP :Just like it says it delivers a massive emp burst dealing dammage to whatever is in its range and knocking back enemy's aswel.

Small NUCLEAR WARHEAD : Smaller than a redeemer but still it creates a serious blast range an deals massive dammage.

Skrith energy missle : Based on stolen skrith technology it delivers a greater blast than the skrith rifle ( higher energy output = more leathal ).

ARMOUR PENATRATING : Heavy missle type can rip armour straight of but doesn't do much damage to targets with no armour ( humanoid and skrith )

I don't know wether it could be made ( key's to switchs ammo type etc )but its just a sylly idea :p

I had nearly same idea. alt-fire key should be sacrificed...just like that grenade gun in Unreal 2.

Well, Iron sights key does do the same thing as alt fire for scoped weapons.

There's always the Special Function key...which, I'm sure the G5 doesn't use.

Actually, it does use it, although as far as I know its only used when the rocket is in flight. (rocket camera)

That was acctually the one i hads in mind for changing the ammo type .
Because i find it alittle bit redundant ( the camera ). But than again i could be wrong .

Personally, I think new ammo types (at least the shotguns) would be cool to see, but really, it could pretty much make the weapons so versitile that there would be no point whatsoever to use something other than what you think looks good.

Granted, I think the RS guys are aiming for something similar to that with a possible attachment system, but that wouldn't really change that gun as drastically as new ammo types, and you would still need a rocket launcher or other heavy weapons to take out a tank or other heavily armored target and not something with say, anti-armor rounds for example.

How will new ammo types change things drastically? Sure, they'll make the weapons a little more versitile, but a shotgun is never going to replace a machinegun, no matter what you load it with. And unless RS has plans for depleted uranium shells for small arms, you'll always need a heavy weapon to take vehicles out.

Well, with all the shotgun shells out there, you could practically make a shotgun into a flamethrower, a poison sprayer, a really long range weapon, and probably a few other things too.

Granted, small arms couldn't do much against a tank, but if you got something like an assault rife or machine gun with AP rounds, you could tear through them quickly.

As for a shotgun replacing a machine gun, I see it very likely. You trade off rate of fire for more area covered in one shot. Is that not the point of a machinegun, to lay down suppressive fire over an area?

Don't get me wrong, I do think it would be cool to see alternate ammo later on in the future, its I don't think they would really be used very easily. It probably wouldn't be very easy or practical to switch ammo types in the middle of a battle, you should just have your squad mates specialize in different roles (possibly with more fitting ammo types for their role).

Yeah, I think the Break Open Grenade Launcher that might get made would fill the role of multipurpose explosives stuff pretty well. :)
