I think thats a cool little weapon, I never even knew about these, its pretty interesting.
Regardless of whether or not it seems dangerous, it is an interesting concept, nonetheless.

While searching for powerfull arms online I found this baby. Here's a short description. And here's what someone who used it has to say about it Nice gun, isn't it? It's essentially a pistol version of a 40k bolter rifle. They're only that big so they look cool. I mean, what would you think if you saw some big ass spacemarines charging towards you with flimsy little rifles going "psshhht!"? You wouldn't know what hit you, that's right! |

I don't really like these kind of weapons. I want to look at the weapon and imagine that this will do a lot of chaos, a pistol firing rockets doesn't sound all that good to me in that case. |

In the N64 version of MI, you got to use the rocket pistol on the train level, when you chased down that one guy. At the end basically. I liked it, it took out the chopper with ease! |

I'm with you on this one Bjossi. This pistol to me would seem totally out of place in the BW (PA) universe. |

interesting concept...didnt these things fail horribly in real life? i dont really see much difference in this idea and just saying a weapon has HV or AP rounds, unless your going to make the rockets slower than current bullets...which is not a good thing variety is a nice thing and hey why wouldnt ppl from the ballistic univers try this method out, i mean they forgot about ballistic weapons so they may have gotten into a frenzied half baked idea "lets put a rocket on it, that way it'll go faster" that sonds very possible to me, so by all means go for it |

Want to make them useful. Make the little rockets smart. Firemode 1 just like a normal pistiol point and click.
Fiemode two. Loiters. Rocket lauches then circle for thirty seconds. Will attack any foe that comes close. Firemode Three seeker point at target till gun beeps and fire. Round will track target on a flat plane going around corners and down halls till it hits or runs out of feul. Rounds out of ammo act like tiny mines and do small explosive damage to foes that step on them for a period of time. |

This sounds like G5RLP, G5 Rocket Launche Portable (tm). Smart rockets might be fun to implement into the G5 and the light RL that will appear later down the road. |

There are other ways of making them useful too. For example: 1. Explosive payload. This doesn't mean that the rockets would have an area effect. They're most likely far too small for that. It just means that they'd do huge amounts of damage if you managed to tag someone with one. Since the projectiles are self propelled and move much more slowly than bullets, explosive mini rockets would be a perfectly plausible concept, (as opposed to explosive bullets I mean). 2. High rate of fire. Self propelled weapons have much lower recoil compared to explosive propelled (can't remember the correct term) weapons of the same calibre. With rockets the size of bullets or a little larger, there would be no recoil at all. This means that the rate of fire is limited only by the ability of the gun's designers. Some sort of heavy weapon version of this could pump out a truly terrifying swarm of mini rockets without taxing the user's strength at all. oh god, I really want some sort of mini swarm missile weapon now... |

You need to find the perfect medium when it comes to bullet speed, rockets could go slower to get stuck inside you and then blow up. Like a rocket filled with stable isotope of nitro-clycerine, then maybe on impact it is mixed with a radioactive chemical that will unstabalize the former and blow it up. |

Anyway, as I mentioned in the previous gyrojet thread, I think this would work best as a hybrid weapon, so one that shoots both rockets (box mag in front of trigger) and bullets (mag in pistol grip). 5 medium-high damage micro rockets and 15 low-medium damage bullets, for example. Rockets could be explosive, poison, incendiary, EMP, whatever... Special could be a target painter laser, for guiding the rockets onto, well, targets. Hm, I'm really starting to like this idea...

[/size] This is starting to sound like the OICW I myself was more thinking of a bolter gun like in Warhammer 40k, or a pistol version of it, with multiple ammo types. (standard/explosive/etc.) |

Sort of... except that it would be a pistol fitted with a rocket launcher rather than an AR fitted with a grenade launcher. It would look a bit (a lot, actually) like a [url=http://www.enemyforces.com/firearms/hkusp.jpg

But maybe the RS guys (or someone else) can come up with a creative solution... |

Bah, that weapon sounds like it'd suck. Laser guidance, smart missiles and the likes all go way past the intentional idea that made me start this thread. I wanted to suggest a pistol/machine gun that shot rocket-propelled bullets, maybe with an alternate, explosive ammo. The thing would go either "psht!" or make a more exciting sound. A bolter pistol or a bolter rifle. Now this thread has turned into some "Let's think up more and more advanced micro rocket launchers!" discussion... |
